Hello there and greetings from Florida!
My name is Freya and while I am new here, I am not new to this community and culture. I have an account on Fetlife and it was someone there who pointed me here. I am here to learn and read, not so much a relationship as many have already requested, so I figured I'd state that here, but friendship is welcome. :)
I don't want to say too much as most of your question are probably answered in my profile. But a word of advice for people wanting to friend me is simply to: READ my profile, because I can tell if you haven't.

But I thought I'd pop in and say hi, and... is it alarming to anyone else that someone without an active account can still private message people? Because this is happening to me right now. Hrm.

Hello and welcome to the conversation side of CM.

If you get messaged by anyone and you don't wish to be contacted by them, it's easy enough to block them. There are quite a number of people without active accounts who don't wish to be contacted on the personals side of CM, but are active on this side. It's not necessarily a sign of someone with malicious intent.
