Excellent article. It is very sad that grown people can't deal with rejection and behave themselves. Technology has become another way for people to harm others. We have a lot of insecure folk out there.

Is it wrong that I spent 10 mins googling for the pics in question?

I tend to see it as if you didn't allow or send out nudes there wouldn't be any chance of them being exposed on any website. Yes, it's wrong for the ex to plaster them on revenge sites but if there were no nude pics to start with there wouldn't be a problem.

The internet is such a wild west circus, at this point anyone can post anything picture wise and say whatever they want, and they are covered by free speech rights.

Somehow I think posting naked pics of your ex along with info about where they live is not what our forefathers had in mind.

Yeah... I guess it's one of those "if you have to ask...." things.

To the OP...

I'm not completely sure that additional laws are necessary, surely the privacy and copyright laws - if properly enforced - should cover it.

That said, there was a case in the UK recently in which a young girl committed suicide after learning that pics of her had been posted on-line, and in that case I have to confess to a pretty strong urge to properly fuck up the life of the wank stain who posted the pics.

Ultimately though, there is a double edge to this.

Firstly, and foremost, the person posting the revenge pics is at fault. They've broken the law (copyright law at the very least) and demonstrated that they are a fucked up douche.

Secondly, and I acknowledge that the blame is by no means equal here, young women do need to be just a tad more circumspect when it comes to letting their beaux have nekkid pictures.

A friend of mine has a very simple policy... She told her last bf that she'd happily let him have nekkid pics, if he took a bunch of himself wearing her panties. While it seems a little "cold war" in its logic, it seems to work for her.

I feel genuinely sorry for the young lady in the story, and other people (men and women) who've been subjected to this kind of thing, and I hope that stories like this get more publicity because the bottom line is that there's a whole generation of kidz out there with fuck all appreciation of the potential implications of giving up their privacy to the likes of facebook and the interwebz.

I find this really weird. The person who's in the photos feels horrible, granted. But to me, I'd judge the guy who posted the pics much more harshly. I'd definitely be open to a relationship with someone whose pics were posted, but I'd be averse to even a platonic friendship with someone who would post.

I'd like to see a followup study of how each fared a year or two after the posting.

I posted the the idea behind this potential new law some time ago, which ended up in politics, I hope this one does not.

I dated a man about 15 yrs ago who enjoyed photography. Once when I was all tied up in red and white rope for xmas he pulled out his camera and began snapping away. I DETEST pictures even when I am fully clothed. Heck, the only pictures of my wedding were taken by a persistant relative, in total there were 5 which had my face showing. When I say I hate them I am being generous, so when this man I was dating started snapping pics, I detangled my ropes. He knew me well enough to know those pics were going to be toast so he pulled out the film and exposed them. He also gave me the roll when I left. I was lucky. Over the years I have known women who have had their pics taken without their knowlege. One guy I knew took images of every woman he fucked, and he fucked plenty.

Having pics out there can happen anytime. Someone can give them willingly to a lover only to discover they are being shared by thousands. I have considered various ways that laws could be put in place but I couldn't see how it might be done. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

My thoughts about giving naked pics to lovers is this, if you feel the need to do it, get pics of him in return, not just his penis. If he asks for pics and says something like your not trusting him, ask for pics back, perferably with his pics being silly, like posing with a baby bottle.

I totally agree that copyright laws should be enforced, but I've no idea how to accomplish that on the internet. It's just a shame that such a fantastic medium is being used to bully teens and harass ex-lovers.

As far as never letting someone else have pics of you, really? Most normal males love naked pics of their partner, and most act responsibly with them. It's that minority of asshats that's the problem.

Unfortunate, you don't often know someone is an asshat until right before the break up.

I have a question for you. What if you took pics of your sub, and a relative (let's say a little brother, though it doesn't matter) inadvertently got hold of them. Let's say you got a new computer and gave him your old one, and he found the pics on your hard drive.

Now let's say little brother plays a 'joke' on you and your sub, and plasters them all over the internet. Is it still okay? Is it your fault for taking the pics? Your sub's fault for allowing them to be taken? Or should there be some system in place for redress?

(And yes, I know people shouldn't leave things on their hard drive, but that can and does happen all the time.)

No it is not okay. Once more people are either too impulsive or simply don't have self control or boundaries to the fact that you don't post stuff like that on the internet. If given to you or found by accident. Period. It isn't funny and definitely not funny for the person. It would be your fault for leaving that on the PC but more fault to little brother who doesn't have any mores to know that posting that could harm you and your sub.

I almost wish some version of this would be required reading for those embarking on their use of the internet. I know there would be rousing cries of how all of the internet 'doms' would never do such a thing when they get subs to play sexually on cam but I'll bet it happens more than some would like to admit.

Number one, what few naughty pics/vids I've ever taken were locked in a safe unless we were later viewing them and for the most part they were destroyed or erased after a viewing or two. I never put any thing on my hard drive for the simple fact I never know when my computer might need repair and I don't want some pc geek getting his jollies looking at something personal. I'm not saying there aren't kinky images on my computer...but they aren't pics of anyone I know or of me. No one gets my computer ever unless it goes into be repaired, I use mine until it's toast and then pull the drive and trash the rest and my computers are all password locked and since I live a ways from any kin[I go visit them] they don't play on mine period. I do see your point though...but if both parties practiced being a little security consciousness getting outted like that would not be easy. I was more talking about little Suzy sending her horny little boyfriend nude selfies in the mirror on her cell then the knotheaded boyfriend plastering said images all over the net. I'm not saying the lowlife ex-boyfriend is blameless here..far from it. But if Suzy had any sense, the lowlife wouldn't have her pics to begin with.I do agree with the other posters that said get pics of the other to hold but I do have honor and hope that anyone I have a relationship with shares that same sense of honor so I'd hope the need for that is unfounded.

Boys do stupid things when they are feeling vindictive and so do girls for that matter. I 'had' a friend that took pictures of her submissive husband dressed in a tutu, wearing Cuban heels and fucking a blow up sheep and then sent them to his boss during their supposedly amicable divorce.

A site that is run specifically for getting revenge on an ex lover is a far bigger demon than some random man or woman acting foolishly on the internet.

Hunter Moore is a complete scum bag who's about to lose everything he ever earned and most of what he will earn in the future. isanyoneup.com is now a de-funked site. They have closed it down along with his Twitter account and his Facebook account and he's been served with a defamation lawsuit and restraining orders in two states! The man's an angry narcissistic bully who's only intent was to ruin peoples lives. But you know what his biggest mistake was? This internet tough guy didn't think to check that he would be legally accountable for not putting disclaimers on his site and allowing people to post naked pictures of under age girls. He is also accountable for every follower of his site that is under age.

Sites like this that openly encourage stupid people to post revenge pictures are the ones that need to be quickly shut down and the owner of the site put on a criminal charge.

He was a muscular guy with “kind of a nerdy kind of charm,” Marianna Taschinger recalled, a combination that proved irresistible to an 18-year-old girl in a small Texas town.

They dated, broke up, dated again. He asked her to pick out a wedding ring. He also made another request — that she take nude pictures of herself and send them to him.

“He said if I didn’t want to send them to him, that meant that I didn’t trust him, which meant that I didn’t love him,” Ms. Taschinger said.

The photos would never be shared with anyone else, she remembers him promising. And she believed him

So common-sensical, it's sheer GENIUS:

Wonder how many guys would back out rather than put themselves in a potentially embarrassing compromising position? Esp. the ones who act like it's no big deal for the girl to pose for them if she 'really loves' them. This also goes to show that males can be equally as, or more, spiteful and vindictive than females routinely get accused of being.
(Not that there aren't some blackmailing bitches out there)

I lucked out. In addition to no Internet or camera cell phones yet, my first full-fledged boyfriend of several years and I had taken nude Polaroids of one another when I was 15. When we broke up, I discarded his because I didn't want to be reminded of him. I later married him so ironically, I got mine back (but not until after we had re-united when I was a divorcee and not without a lot of wrangling & arm-twisting). My advice is be unrecognizable - tattoos are a dead giveaway - and practice discretion so there's nothing to regret later. Oh, and if he has tattoos, make sure to include those in his shots.
