My anecdotal view is that woman want to forget past boyfriends and men like to remember past girlfriends.

How true and so perceptive of you. But we do like to keep mementos, love letters, clothed pics, special gifts of sentimental value.

We just don't want to remember the selfish prick losers who use women for sex and who were otherwise undeserving of our love & affections. I suspect men are more sentimental than they let on. Either that, or they like to collect trophies.

Another difference with the vanilla women I've known is that we are conservative about keeping down our "count." Can't let that count get too high, you know. With men, it seems to be the opposite. I've known women, myself included, who've gone back to the same guy in order to keep that number stabilized. (And all this time you guys thought it was our undying loyalty!)

I see revenge porn as a sign of low intelligence. In fact revenge is an exercise in futility at best, since the person you get revenge on will want to get revenge against you. History is full of examples, the Hatfields and McCoys, Martin and Lewis, Bill and Hilary.

However, if one must post pictures online in order to get revenge, forget the nude photos. Focus instead on photos of the person drunk, face plants in food are always good, their reaction when you throw a spider on them, anything embarrassing is good.

A bad hair dye job pic is priceless.

I can't believe I am about to do this but I would like to take a moment and defend "the boys" so far as to say they are not the only ones that do this. I have known a couple of dommes that have done it to their boys as well. The only difference, for the most part, being that men (most of the time) don't get as upset about it as women do. Which makes me think about all that buzz that went on over the girls gone wild videos and someone's father suing later (daughter was underage and drunk) Which leads me to wonder how naïve anyone can really be in this day and age. I mean, okay, maybe I'm just being a bitch but for the love of peanuts where did everyone's personal responsibility go?
I am willing to admit that I am old and that there are stealthy ways to take pictures/film now a days but really? Way back when I was in college(okay it wasn't that long ago) I was a model in an art class. I bet you can guess what kind of an art class it was too. When I told my grandmother about it all she said to me was "You should never allow anyone to take a picture of you that you wouldn't want your mother to see" And for pity sake grandma was talking about a drawing class not high def. And yeah I am willing to admit that my antics didn't stop with one art class but I knew full well that anything I allowed to be put down on hard paper, anything I allowed to be printed, could be handed off to someone else....and someone else...and someone else...etc.
Yes, I feel sorry for the ladies who have had their lives screwed with but they decided to do the things that got them to this point. They picked the dirt bag to date who later became an angry ex. They in the deluded euphoria of "love" decided to take or allow pictures of themselves to be taken. They broke up with afore mentioned dirt bag, more than once in at least this case, without making sure they had their pictures back.
Personal responsibility. I can't say it enough times. People should stop and think about their actions before later becomes sooner. Make all the laws you want to but technology will just out run them. The law moves slow, the net moves fast, and people are very vengeful creatures.

littlewonder -> RE: Online Revenge Posts (9/29/2013 4:42:32 AM)

I'm of the opinion that if you post nude pics of yourself on the net and your ex uses them as revenge then you get what you deserve. I mean, come on! It's the internet. If you don't know in this day and age, the risks, then please turn off your computer and throw it in the trash for heaven's sake!

Victims. [8|]

And yes, in the past I've had that exact same thing happen to me. But here's the thing...I took responsibility for those photos and wasn't afraid of someone seeing them on the net.

Responsibility. It's a wonderful thing.

I have to agree with the above 2 posts. Yes, these websites shouldn't exist, and there should be laws against it. But the best way to protect yourself is to take responsibility for yourself in the first place. There are very few times in life where you are truly a victim. Most of the time you could have prevented it by a little personal responsibility.

Two of my hard limits are no photos/videos, and nothing public. I don't want my photos on the web, and I don't want to end up on the news for public indecency (which has happened here in Portland). If someone doesn't like that, I'm not the right person for them. But I have to take responsibility for myself. If I allow someone to take pictures of me and they post them yes, they are jerks for having posted them, but I am responsible for their being photos of me in the first place.

......steps down from soapbox......
