OedipusRexIt -> Quandry (7/1/2006 10:17:59 AM)

I really enjoy a good discussion.  I've tried to start several.  If a link dumper doesn't screw it up, then someone else does, either by totally missing the point and thus throwing off subsequent posts, or else by engaging in inane back-and-forth banter of the kind best found in a chat room.

My quandry is this:  I've met some very interesting people here, but between snooty arbitrary self-important moderators and self-appointed mavens of the forums, I grow weary of wasting my time.  If there were a way to make the forums more efficent, the moderators clearly don't want to hear it.  Why continue playing with a broken toy.

Without improvement to the system, I fear my days here are likely numbered in single digits, as it starts to become a pointless exervcise.  So, haven't been sure of the best way to sign off, with so many friends to bid adieu.

a classily worded good bye.  i never seen one worded as nice.

Don't leave.

pahunkboy -> RE: Quandry (7/1/2006 10:40:45 AM)

the ebb and flow of the net makes it a fluid place. very fluid. what was in -in June, rapidshare -splitting files has come to pass as the holy grail of the net is in site. It is now possible to send LARGE files.

MrrPete -> RE: Quandry (7/1/2006 10:41:02 AM)

Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

Don't look now but your intolrance is showing. The last thing we need in the collarme
forums is another intolerant person. we have enough of them already.

redpetals -> RE: Quandry (7/1/2006 10:53:13 AM)

well i get really tired of the "matter to fact" way people post here...
yet i have never thought of ducking out of the site
my feelings may not be popular but they are , by golly ,"mine"
and i'm entitled..just like anyone else is entitled here...
it's why its called a discussion board..
frankly i would miss your lip

Rex, if you go, be well.

LokisBrat -> RE: Quandry (7/1/2006 11:40:10 AM)

I personally enjoy your posts, and while we've never talked, I feel sure that you would be a loss to the boards. Intelligent discussions are the staff of life for me, and while there is plenty of other types of discussion here, there are still IMO, some good things going on.
I wish you well whichever way you decide.

TexasMaam -> RE: Quandry (7/1/2006 11:49:48 AM)

Rex,

Let the water roll off the ducks' back.

Take away what is of value, ignore the rest.

Stay and play.

TexasMaam -> RE: Quandry (7/1/2006 11:53:06 AM)

Rex,

Besides, this isn't a popularity contest.  If other board members flame you, or Mods reprimand you, so what? Join the club.

The only reason to come to CM is to read what might be of value, post your experiences with a given topic if desired, and interact with others in the lifestyle.

It's pretty hard to find that even out here in cyberspace.

*uck em if they can't take a joke. Post away.

juliaoceania -> RE: Quandry (7/1/2006 12:00:57 PM)

fast reply

I have been flamed more than once, and had someone accuse me of starting trite threads... I would block people that got in your way of enjoying CM. The thing is we are all here for different reasons, some just want to kill time, others are here to have a good time, still others want to make friends, and others want to find mates. Some,like you, want to share ideas. Not all purposes are lofty, but all are valid reasons to post.

I enjoy many of your threads, even those I have not responded to and it would be a shame to see you stop posting, but if you feel you are wasting your time here I wish you well!

I have several purposes here, so I will probably be around for a while....smiles

(Responding only to OP)
When starting a thread or discussion here at CM or anywhere else for that matter, one has obsolutely No Control about where the discussion will go from there.
Like "they" say "if ya can't take the heat...."
or "don't let the screen door...."

A sure bet is to just leave without making much adieu(ado),  a simple tata would suffice.[8|].

There are those, myself included who would miss you. Do as you feel right and know that you take our best wishes with you no matter what your decision is.

I've read some of your threads and they've been good. The one with regard to Ann Coulter was lively and entertaining. lol

But seriously... why let a few things that you don't like about the board chase you away or get ya worked up? It's only the fictitious world of the internet, and should be evaluated as such.

Turn your computer off for the weekend, drink a few brews and have a good Forth of July.

OedipusRexIt -> RE: Quandry (7/1/2006 3:39:55 PM)

Ya know, it's been more the silly mods than anything else.  And not so much what they have to say to me, but the way they seem to react to nearly every intelligent post.

Makes one wonder whether the intention isn't to try and weed out people to smart to click on porn ads.  Trouble is, that sounds too organized a plan to be real...

Anyway, I'll probably take a break from reading./posting.  Still, some awfully good people in this place, no doubt about it.  Really eye-opening and mind expanding.  Even the viagra addict in the silly fez is at least good for a laugh, and who doensn't enjoy that?

Thanks all.

NeedToUseYou -> RE: Quandry (7/1/2006 4:08:16 PM)

Was it something I said.... LOL. Seriously, lighten up. This isn't a havard lecture hall. It's a stupid forum. Expecting it to be anything else, is expecting failure. No one, is going to treat this as such, and anyone that is expecting it to a bastion of intellectual discourse will be greatly disappointed 95% of the time. I think you miss the point of forums. Interpreting meaning differently isn't always missing the point sometimes it's raising another point based on the same given facts. Some think different is always wrong, though, so what's a fellow to do.

Anyway, I've not seen you flamed, nor treated differently than anyone else. Maybe that's the problem? hmmmmm...... Or maybe not.

Bye, or Hello. whichever you select.

LokisBrat -> RE: Quandry (7/1/2006 4:34:58 PM)

I enjoy the diversity here and on more than one occasion spewed coffee all over my monitor in utter disbelief.  There are so many different opinions and personalities here that it truly is a learning experience.  As with anything in life, take the good and weave it into the fabric of growing, discharge the rest.  Your posts, wisdom, and experiences will be missed.

LOKI

feastie -> RE: Quandry (7/1/2006 6:12:35 PM)

Taking a break is not a bad thing.   Refreshes one's perspective.  But I would say, participating in boards like this one requires one to have a grain of salt the size of a deer lick at the ready.  Read, lick, read, lick, post.

Kedikat -> RE: Quandry (7/1/2006 7:40:29 PM)

Well, you can stop playing and go home.
But it isn't your ball. So the rest of us will keep at it.

I haven't yet given up on trying to enlighten everybody here [:)]. Stubborn or masochistic ?
