Some of it is good, some of it is bad, some of it makes me laugh out loud. Where in life can you go that you will not find the same. Alone in a forest on a lake? I'd find the good, the bad and the laughing out loud even there.
Wait............are there gonna be bugs?
LOL

Keep in mind, not everyone was on the debate team. Many don't know how. If not for forums like this, many would never learn. Even at that, some never will. Sometimes, from the mouths of babes though, very interesting tidbits can flow.
Take a break, if that's how you're feeling. Come again and give it another go, I'll read ya <smile>

There is quite a bit of inconsistency in regards to moderation. I have had my own post removed from the "test" area on the forums when asking a question, then told in an email that this section is not for questions & I would go into that section & count more than several other posts that were all asking questions. I was in there a couple of days ago & found a thread several weeks old with more than 20 replies about how to add a picture to a post. So then I would make another attempt to resolve a question I would post in "off topic" & again have my post removed & told in an email that I should contact support. Well, that kinda was my reason for asking on the boards was because I didn't get an answer from support.

I have also seen lengthy posts that are already found within the forums yet reposted in their entirety rather than post a link back to it or see the poster just copy the entire page along with adding a link. Well just today I made a post & admitted that I no longer had an active link to it...I just had it saved as a document. Tonight I find my post edited with a link to a site I have never heard of.

Why? The post was not something found on this site, so it was not redundant. I was not a real long post. I simply didn't have time to search for a link (I had this saved as a document in files) & the site owner where I had originally found the piece has given me permission to use/copy/repost anything I find on her site. (especially in the case of the original author being deceased)

I have to agree with OedipusRexIt, it almost seems if there is some type of plan or selective moderation happening. Oh well... I was already told by support after complaining about a name-changing stalker that I always had an option of closing my account. That pretty much told me where a member ranks on this site. No biggie... was just following the advice that we all see posted on here so often... if you're having a problem with harassment, block & report the jerk. Not the most effective advice I have discovered but again, no biggie... I can deal with the occasional jerk-off online.

I can live with all of this. Really makes no difference to me. So what if I get a post removed or see a whole thread I was interested in following completely disappear. There will be dozens more to read & contribute to tomorrow. As for people coming & going... well, in the last few years I have seen many people come & go. This too is of no real importance because for every person who goes, there are a dozen more people popping up.

My final resolve is that I come here to read & contribute when moved to do so... beyond that, I & no one else on here has no real say as to what takes place.

ps... last word, (hopefully one that you can appreciate as humor & nothing more)

At least you haven't had one of the spelling/grammar nazi's jump in & correct the spelling of your subject line

& in the famous words of Jack Nicholson as the Joker:
"If you gotta go, GO WITH A SMILE!"

Did you read his fucking post?

The obvious answer to your Why question is that he cares a little about the community he has been making significant worthwhile contributions to for some time now and he's on the point of despairing of finding enough others who do.

The "take it up the ass and shut up or leave quietly" ethic isn't quite ubiquitous yet, but you're welcome to it.

You know I wrote to Rex thanking him for his contributions and in that context shared a complaint about a another website comparable to this one which had gone downhill partly due to unfathomable moderation. I discovered that the e-mail filters here won't let you name that site, so I had to type "b0ndage.com" instead. So the bad news is that we're dealt with like children. The good news is that we are dealt with like stupid children.

And please, if you're winding up to post your opinion that it makes good business sense to inconvenience your clientele when they're bitching about the competition, fire away.

The business value of this enterprise consists in nothing other than our contributions here and on the other side. Even so, as someone just suggested above we are treated by the proprietors not as individuals contributing to a community which can constitute a relatively high quality advertising market but rather as interchangeable commodity eyeballs for sale to the lowest bidder.

Does anyone wonder why so many of the ads here are just sleazy? I think it has to with the advertisers for less sleazy products spending their (considerable) budgets where the tenor is a little ... different than here.

I'm all for free enterprise capitalism on a scale like this, don't get me wrong. I just think someone is failing to read the case studies which demonstrate that the first smart player in a given market who eschews the lowest-value/highest volume model can often consolidate a position where higher margins on lower revenues yield superior ROI.

Take it easy, Rex.
