This article makes me wonder how many of the comments posted on news sites and other forums are from paid government shills. Gov't is supposed to serve and obey the public's opinion, not manipulate public opinion! It's not a fair use of my tax dollars either.

It should not be news to anyone that our own government has very active propaganda campaigns targeted at it's own citizens. Nor should it be news that our government has no compunctions about lying outright to it's citizens.

American citizens live in a mirror-box of state sponsored misinformation and propaganda.

I can fathom no reason government would ever do that! Not one! To even think otherwise would be grounds for a visit to Room 101.

Are we sure this has never happened before? Is this just the tip of the iceberg? Will we soon be incorporated into kenya, or n.korea?

Lies for the gullible and feeble minded. Cute but factless, knowing lies by the hysterically mental defectives.

Well we know who our government paid trolls are, but they are not working for the Executive branch.

Try Organizing for Action, though it's more likely to be offered through temp agencies to people who went 100 grand in debt for a degree in marketing, and are now willing to accept what amounts to a minimum wage, part-time job in a boiler room, being monitored constantly to make sure they don't go off message, or express an independent thought.

Besides, the organizations get their best results from the useful idiots who do it for free, sitting home all day, regurgitating whatever talking point shows up in the inbox.

I understand they also do some hiring among the unemployable members in the union halls.

The difference between "The Onion" and "Prison Planet" is one funny and the other is in dire need of a company jacket that has long arms that tie together in the back!

I've never found Prison Planet to have much credibility...

They're both funny, but for entirely different reasons.

I wonder if the chatroom trolls will count as "essential" employees in the event of a shutdown.

Completely agree. And, that there are people who treat both as oracles, is equally scary.

Well, this explains a lot of the posters, running around here.

We had this discussion back in 2008 and 2012
Disinformation, lies n bullshit(anyone remember death panels?)
some people really have no clue about how long this is going on, or that both sides are complicit.
I believe even the actual ads were mentioned in previous years, but I sure as hell am not gonna research it.

tj444 -> RE: Gov't Paid Trolls in the Chatrooms (9/26/2013 6:18:18 AM)

why would the govt need to pay for trolls when the media does such a good job of twisting the "news" and downplaying (or not even reporting) on important stuff? After all, Snowden needed to go to the UK to find a reporter that would actually report on what slimey stuff the US govt was doing.. [8|]
