And there are occasions when I use a couple of them to elevate my knee (family wont let me get a DIY knee repair tool at Home Depot.)

You can pick up a hacksaw at any decent hardware store.

Yeah, but a chain saw works so much better.

Someone get me a knee repair kit as well...can't tell if it's gout or the torn muscle from when I was a teenager...

needlesandpins -> RE: Kera updates (10/1/2013 5:23:32 AM)

it is lovely to see her so settled, but I think she has found her life home not a foster home lol

i'd be cautious of her around such a young child, but then i'd be cautious of any dog around such a child. hell I have border collies and they are as snappy as any dog can be around kids if provoked.

If it's gout it will be in the joint and the pain is sort of like someone smashed the joint with a sledgehammer a couple of dozen times.

border collies

How do you keep multiple border collies occupied? Do you have cattle or something for them to herd?

needlesandpins -> RE: Kera updates (10/1/2013 8:53:52 AM)

nah, a patterdale terrier bitch. she beats the crap out of him. just the one bc now as the old boy passed away, and only ever had two at a time together. I have a large garden and tons of countryside on my doorstep plus lots of training. only bored dogs are destructive dogs. collies need their brains occupying for sure and a lot of exercise. it's how I've ended up with my last three dogs coming to me for free at six months plus from homes that couldn't handle them.

not all bc's are bred equally either. unfortunately the kennel club is breeding out herding instinct as well as some brain power for the sake of looks. same old same old. give me a proper farm bred working dog any day of the week.

I love the breed. They're smart and eager to please but the energy level? Trying to keep one from getting bored living in an apartment and working a day job? I was just glad my brother was willing to take him before he drove me crazy.

Well it is official, Lil Red has accepted Kera as a member of "her" pack. Over the last few days Lil Red has taken to mothering Kera, cleaning her ears and face.

Lil Red even scolds Kera and blu for getting too rambunctious in their play in the house.

Kera got her stitches out this morning, and got a clean bill of health from her vet. She has gained 5 pounds in a week and a half.

She wanted no part of being on the exam table, until Damian sat on the table with her.

However, she seemed terrified of going out on a leash, and unlike when we picked her up, she was scared to get in the car. The vet told us that she associates car rides with something bad, such as being dumped.

I spoke to the women who had fostered her before we got her, and was told the sunday that we met to pick her up, leaving the house was a problem, she had to be carried to the car, as was the case this morning. She seemed to calm a little when she saw damian in his car seat.

The fun started when we got her back home. She went straight to my room to curl up on the bed, and it was not there. The futon mattress was on the floor and she got very vocal about the change in environment.

Okay this morning it was raining and about 51 degrees....

This is how Kera dealt with it.
