I apologize if I'm missing something between this thread and the other with the same title. RedMagic's response on the other thread is very often one of the reasons that people want to get you off of this site and use a private chat or another site. One of the less scam type reasons is that the chat feature here doesn't always seem to work for everybody. (At least that is one of the reasons that I hear.)

Since you are in the "fresh meat" category, (otherwise known as somebody who pops up in the "newest users" feature) if you are getting an influx of chat requests, I'm more willing to bet that it's scam territory. New members who happen to be female get a different kind of influx. (Get on cam or I'll report you to be a man kind of BS, as an example.) Males get hit up more often for various scams of pay sites. In both instances, the person on the other end is hoping that somebody is new and doesn't know any better.

One illegitimate reason is the scammers don't want to talk on CM so there is no record here of it.

One legitimate reason is that chatting on the site is really clunky on computers that it does work on, and non-existent for devices that use java. I find yahoo chat to be much more user-friendly.

Among legit reasons:

1. Collarme chat sucks big time as far as usability even when it works
2. Collarme chat doesn't work half the time
3. Collarme chat doesn't work on smartphones. All decent IM programs do.
4. Collarme chat doesn't have a way to export chat logs offside for permanent storage. All chat clients let you permanently save your own chat logs.
5. People prefer to only use ONE chat program for all their chatting. Not 100 different windows.
6. Collarme chat requires you to sit at your PC. You can move, log off, go home/work and re-connect to chat.
7. Collarme chat doesn't let you have async conversations (e.g. you take a 3 minute break and answer later... or a 3 hour break) unless it's email.

Usability 101: why is this forum listing me as "Vanilla"? I can guess at the intent (new forum user?) but it's so unintuitive and confusing it hurts my software designer brain

My old computer can't cope with the CM chat, it crashes every time. Likewise, I cannot run Skype or Yahoo because my old dinosaur falls over

But once I have a nice shiny new putie, I will be happy to invite EVERY ONE to come chat to me!

If a woman cannot get off Collarme and quickly to communicating in a much more personal and non internet method, she quickly loses my interest.

It's a catch 22. Chats on this website can be problematic due to the number of people using the servers at the same time as well as the reasons listed above.

A risk to other sites such as Yahoo is most them require you to fill out the offsite profiles and do not protect them. Offsites often require you put in your real name. If the other person is honorable, not that big a deal. Some internet services can sell your name, address and background based on your email address on the most common vanilla websites. The risk then is someone may purchase your information before you are ready to get serious with someone.

It's a catch 22 of sorts. You want to communicate beyond email. Most of us want to do something besides on line. I am sincere in my desire to get to real time. I have not had any problems. If you read the accounts of some others, it can prove downright dangerous when an monster leads you off this site.

so this is offsite but also "collarchat"? I mayhap misunderstood. some 'subs' list an e-mail addy on their very profile. I found this, in fact a turn off. Seems a bit if a 'honey-trap', for those who recall the term.

personally if someone cannot respond to you in collar-e-mail in a real way, versus someone who comes off as a Ukrainian or Nigerian or Thailand mail order bride or as a punk-ass lazzy-ass wannabe university media student then the question becomes moot anyway. Why communicate in a less safe platform with someone who doesn't bother to communicate in a genuine fashion) in the first place?

Any woman I've given my personal contact information to has not given be one iota of problems.

Then again I seem to have a really good ability to read people via their emails. Historically, one or two emails tell me whether I want them to have my personal information or not. I do understand that not everyone has that intuition ability.

I will usually move offsite for email exchanges after a few cmails. My smart phone doesn't format cmail messages properly (wall of text, anyone?).

When I first created this profile, I set up an email account just for people that I met through here. While Yahoo does require something in the first and last name field, it doesn't actually have to be a name. I set mine up to be random initials so that my name didn't show up with the first email. Same goes for the other information in the account. If you're unsure, email yourself (at your normal account) to see what shows up.

Honey-trap, lol. Ya, this sub never casually gave out off-site contact info.

Among legit reasons:

I get those chat requests from time to time, and, well, if a guy gets 'em, it's often a scam (for your money, not your cock), so, I always had assumed the reason they want you to go to the yahoo style chat (or Skype) is to get your address.

Once they have your handle, they can spam the hell out of you.

Or so I had assumed.

I get those from time to time, and freely go to yahoo chat with them. My yahoo e-mail inbox remains as empty as the landscape outside Vostok Station.

I personally only communicate via dead-drop, myself. I have to maintain OPSEC at all times, you know.
