Well, then taxes should be a steep grade culminating at 99% for the people who earn more than the average.

Look, taxes are necessary, deductions may not be, but if they are not for the individual, then why for the corporations?

what do you think would happen if corporations could not deduct legit expenses? they would cease to exist..
btw, I think individuals/workers should get deductions for work related costs (travel to & from work, work clothing & cleaning work clothes, etc) incurred to generate an income also..

Good, let them cease to exist. They are a drag on the country and the economy. When workers are skint and if working existing on no wages and every corporation is there to pick their pocket, they will cease to exist, good for the latter and the former (that is a syllepsis, but a zeugma is intended, btw) LOL.

The government needs money, needs to figure out a decent budget and get its act together.

So what can the do to raise money and cut spending?

Amazing....I said raise taxes on everyone.

(Clearly, I was in the minority).

Taxes could be raised on everyone, but it would have to be done by raising it least on the poor and scaling up from there; otherwise it would be unfair due to the marginal value of money. If Jack makes $20,000/year and Bill makes $200,000, a 10% decrease in income is going to hurt Jack's standard of living more than Bill's, even though Bill loses more straight-up funds. Jack is probably spending nearly every penny on things like electricity, rent, and food; cutting two thousand dollars from his budget will be difficult. Bill, unless he has sky-high medical expenses, will only have less disposable income, less money going into savings and investments, and possibly have to make adjustments like driving his old car for a couple more years instead of choosing a new one.

again, why raise taxes on the 99.997 or so % who didn't cause the needs for all this extremism in the first place? The assRodebuds and FratFelchgoats that caused this shit have enough squirreled away like Bernie Madoff that raiding their sorry blown-out ass-donuts (oops, I meant assets) could offset any Treasury problems for long enough to find additional solutions.

Don't tax the rich OR the poor, raid the wrongfully-rich and leave them with naught but one dollar over what the current thresh-hold of "lower middle class" is.
