Bfirst -> Importance of a Profile Picture (10/3/2013 8:52:34 PM)

Hello, as you can see my profile picture is not of my face. I have reasons for this. I was wondering how big of a deal that is to potential viewers of my profile. I'm not afraid to Skype someone or send a pic of me once I begin to talk to them. I realize there are a lot of fake accounts on here or profiles with fake pictures and that a picture of Utah to people generally isn't what there looking for. Would a picture such as me skiing but bundled up have the same affect or would that be a step forward?

Thanks B

It's never been a problem for me, but then I'm a female sub so I have the numbers on my side. But I can totally relate to your reluctance to post a photo.....

Welcome, B! Lots of folks don't have face pics here. It wouldn't be an issue for me since you are willing to 'put a face with the type' once a conversation gets going. You can also explore different camera angles, such as 3/4 turned from the lens, to give folks a general impression without positively identifying yourself. Best of luck :-)

I do happen to think that a pic of you skiing would probably do you more favors than a scenery shot. We have a lot of threads about what pictures tend to get the attention of female Dominants and "engaged in a vanilla activity that you enjoy" tends to be a very common recommendation. Women have often mentioned how well those types of pictures are received.

I would much prefer that type of pic as opposed to a ass or front naked shot...I ignore those as they seem to think this is all about scenes.

~FRing it~

I said hell with it and posted a damned fine face pic. I'm not scared [:D]

OP, I think a skiing pic would work fine. My guy is not a picture guy at all. We began talking with him having no picture up. And we happen to do just fine. We're even coming up on 2 years together in February. My point is its entirely possible to establish something with someone with a scenic pic (rotated so that the chair lift and trees are where they should be :) ) or an even better pic of you in your ski gear would be fine.

Thank you all for the help, that makes me feel a lot better about no having one.

Honestly, I agree with you not having a publically displayed picture; particularly as I have a career that would frown on it here. Moreover it is a free site; and many of your coworkers cruise it for laughs ...

That said, as a man, I have never found pictures work really well online.

The reverse is true of Ladies; because typically a man, regardless of his side of the kneel, has to approach the Lady.

And when you make the approach, then you can easily attach pictures for Her to see, not others.

If you read Her profile first, write a good introduction, and attach pictures, it works really well on this site. Even better then the popular vanilla dating sites.

So that is my suggestion for all men on CM.

Even though I recently posted a pic about one of my vanilla interests! LOL

ThePrincessKali -> RE: Importance of a Profile Picture (10/4/2013 7:15:09 PM)

I don't have one for privacy reasons but like you once conversations get going I will video chat or send a photo. I'm a fin domme though and am pursuing a career in entertainment which is why I don't have one up but I haven't had a big problem thus far.

SurrenderForMe -> RE: Importance of a Profile Picture (10/6/2013 10:55:19 PM)

Since you have a description in your profile and are willing to share a photo with some communication, a photo of you on the ski slope would be fine. The vista photo's, while better than the stolen or avatar photo's, are a bit too cold/impersonal.

Good luck in your search.

Same. If I got to know somebody very well, I would be willing to post a pic, but I'm not posting it publicly. This side of me is very private and I'm keeping it that way.

lilBlackbird44 -> RE: Importance of a Profile Picture (10/17/2013 5:40:54 PM)

I think you might get more people to investigate your profile further if you had a pic of yourself, though not necessarily your face. I did a body shot with mine, but COVERED! I absolutely HATE nude shots as profile pics. I guess if you're picking a nude shot or a scenery shot though, I'd go scenery.

StrictlyADomina -> RE: Importance of a Profile Picture (10/17/2013 5:48:13 PM)

I think the ski photo is a great idea. I understand not posting a photo that identifies who you are.

Ilyrium -> RE: Importance of a Profile Picture (10/17/2013 6:47:34 PM)

If it helps, I had asked the same question in the introductions in my first post, and, the answer basically came back to find a picture that is a visual pin of what you want someone to think of when they see your profile picture.

It's better than a cock shot for sure, even if you have a nice looking cock (as women are nothing like us, and they just don't care about looks).

FelineRanger -> RE: Importance of a Profile Picture (10/17/2013 8:14:52 PM)

My profile pic is my face (the face that blew up a PennDOT camera!) simply because I generally don't care what other people think. Even among my 'nilla friends, I've unintentionally dropped some hints that would make their finding me here or on FL totally unsurprising. But I also understand that not everyone can be so open. Career considerations, like those cited by ThePrincessKali or seekingOwnertoo are the most common concerns. The pic of you skiing would be a great idea because it shows you doing something other than kink-related.
