SurrenderForMe has been trying to deal with the fact that she can't post on CM for some while. She got nowhere trying to sort out the problem with the admin people so, in desperation, she took me up on my offer to post her words here.

She can read replies, obviously, but she can't post. It's all a headache!

Her cmail to me follows, reprinted with her permission:

"

From Surrenderforme,

Open letter to anyone that can help with an issue posting on the forums. For more than a year, I have been unable to post in the forums. I am aware that this site is free and may run on a shoestring so I have been as patient as I could be.

I am currently not feeling all that patient. I contacted support for the latest round, end of August maybe and I got first the generic and then the one they keep using as second line. I can't be accurate on the dates because they delete my emails from my sent mail, no idea why. All they leave on my email is their response. An excerpt of the latest round is cut and pasted below.
Support on 9/17/13 at 9:55 PM:

SurrenderForMe,

Thank you for contacting Collarme Support. You shouldn't need to log in to the message boards or chatrooms at all, but if you did, the credentials you use to log in to your profile should work.

With regard,

The Collarme Support Team

Support on 9/4/13 at 9:09 AM:

SurrenderForMe,

Thank you for contacting Collarme Support. We will investigate the problem.

With regard,

I explained the issue and was sent the email back that they would investigate. What is making me want to scream is that this is the latest round of same issue different day. As has become the norm. First response is the generic, we'll get back to you. Second response is someone who obviously did not read the problem, giving the exact same solution that I have indicated that I have repeatedly tried. There is no 3rd response. After the second round, they disappear and I have to start the round over.

Issue: Unable to post on forums.

Attempted solutions: Log in. This leads to a page that says that I am using the wrong password. "The password you input was incorrect.

Note: password is case-sensitive.

You can either try again or reset your password.

go back?"

Then I click on try again, same result.

I tried, forgot password. It takes me to the main CM site and sends me my password which is the one I know. I tried it anyway and have reset my password a few times.

I click on reset and get: http://www.collarchat.com/lostpassflat.asp "
The page cannot be found

The page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

Please try the following:

Make sure that the Web site address displayed in the address bar of your browser is spelled and formatted correctly.
If you reached this page by clicking a link, contact the Web site administrator to alert them that the link is incorrectly formatted.
Click the Back button to try another link.

HTTP Error 404 - File or directory not found.
ASPPlayground.NET SQL Forum Software

Technical Information (for support personnel)

Go to Microsoft Product Support Services and perform a title search for the words HTTP and 404.
Open IIS Help, which is accessible in IIS Manager (inetmgr), and search for topics titled Web Site Setup, Common Administrative Tasks, and About Custom Error Messages."

Collarme support has been sent this same cut and paste showing each result and has very politely done nothing but tell me it's not happening, and then that they'll check and get back to me, over and over and over again.

Any productive help in resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,"

PeonForHer,

The login is actually seperate for the profiles side and for the message boards side. Normally, username and password are the same for both, and a user is automagically logged in when they click on the "Message Boards" link on the profiles side. When I created my account, I somehow (I guess the kids these days call it "skillz"?) managed to sever that link. So, I have to log in to both sides separately using the same username and a different password. (Conveniently, the "forgot password" feature won't give them both...)

In another thread on the topic of password shenanigans, which might be the problem, VideoAdminAlpha offered to change a password on this side for anyone in my situation who PM'd her the new password they wanted. If Surrenderforme can PM her from the other side, that might be worth a try.

And just because it worked for you, doesn't mean it will (or ought to) work for everyone.
