her tongue is disgusting. her arse looks crap in those not-so-not pants. she is trying to be cool and sexy to get the approval of people her own age while forgetting that her audience is made is of kids.

having said that I saw her interviewed a couple of weeks ago and she seemed like a nice girl. for once it would nice to see one of these child star girls get through to adulthood without going bat shit crazy along the way.

Miley has some musical talent. She's a better singer than, say, Katy Perry. Of course, so is my roommate's cat, so that might be a bad example.

Miley's problem is that she won't stay relevant if she doesn't do something for attention. She's not bad, but she's not good enough to stand out in a sea of semi-skilled musical performers in their late teens and early 20s like herself. She needs to take her music in a new direction and do something different from the crowd, and/or seriously work on her skills. Her other two options are fading away or resorting to silly gimmicks to keep people talking about her. It'll work, for awhile, but it won't get anyone to take her seriously or lead to true career longevity.

I think a lot of men have gotten scholarship money for their athletic abilities, which is really just a lot of fluff, no different than a beauty contest. That's why China wins, because they're hard workers who take things seriously and who want to win, while we Americans really don't. The fact that any Americans at all are interested in Miley Cyrus or that she warrants any more than two lines in the back pages of the National Enquirer is a sad commentary on just how ridiculous our culture has become.

I'm no fan of Gloria Steinem, although I think she's correct in that we need to change our culture. But Steinem and other like-minded people have been a major force in changing our culture over much of the past half-century, so I'm not sure what she's complaining about now. Too many people don't think things through, they don't consider the consequences of what they advocate, and when it turns out to not be to their liking, they're really the last ones who should be complaining about it.
