ORIGINAL: Politesub53 Yes being apart, seperateness..... are you getting the idea now ? Yes I'm getting the idea, similarity equals sameness. You've made this claim about synonyms before. It was wrong then, it's wrong now, and it will still be wrong tomorrow. Are you getting that idea? K. Ah, so your problem is with pedantics, Fwiw I posted a link regards Assume/Suspect which listed them as a synonym. I cant be arsed to post it again, since you obviously didnt read the first one. Now lets take your point slowly, so you can follow it. Using violence to force people to live apart under Jim Crow, wasnt the same as using violence to force people to live apart under apartheid ? Granted it wasnt as bad but dont tell me it was any fucking different, because that really would be arrogant. Owner has summed this up nicely. You also skipped my point about Native Indians being forced onto reservations. Whats your word for that, Jim Crow ? Apartheid ? ethnic cleansing ? And lets not forget that this thread was promted by my comments that being called a US Citizen, hasnt always ensured you were treated like one, even a mere fifty years ago. I am guessing you will start on with synonyms again. [8|] You know Polite.....I have absolutely zero guilt or association with jim crow.....If a furriner pointed at me as said "American...jim crow yada yada"....it wouldn`t faze me in the least...My family, my ancestors worked against jim crow. If someone pointed at me saying I was gay or a communist or a welfare recipient.....it just would`nt faze me because those things aren`t true.....there`s no reality of that for me. Why would anyone want to take on this debate........ in 2013....... if they didn`t feel a sense of guilt and shame and a need to defend this garbage? Very Freudian indeed.
