FatDomDaddy -> DC Dems Starting to Cave, Pressure Pres. Obama and Sen. Reid (10/9/2013 8:53:56 PM)

I'm guessing they Democrats are Happy Ms Norton's vote doesn't count.

Eleanor Holmes Norton confronts Obama on D.C. budget bill

And then there is Harry Reid patronizing Vincent Gray...Reid to Gray: "I’m on your side, don’t screw it up, okay? Don’t screw it up!"

Vincent Gray confronts Reid on Capitol steps over shutdown’s impact on District

And this constitutes the impending collapse of the Evil Empire? You might keep in mind that decent America has no real choice: if the Tea Party has its way, this country will be wrecked. Under those circumstances, Obama has nothing to lose. Nice try though, as such usually goes.

Decent America....... yeah that's not a polarizing statement at all.

TheHeretic -> RE: DC Dems Starting to Cave, Pressure Pres. Obama and Sen. Reid (10/9/2013 9:03:53 PM)

This shutdown certainly is creating some odd ideological bedfellows. We've got Republicans trying to pay bureaucrats for not coming in to work, and the President outsourcing government benefits to private charities.

I have a feeling its about to get a lot stranger.

But I can only imagine the rage Vincent Gray felt at that statement.

Of course not, it is evil to pass on the kool-aid

Agreed. Amazing that people abandon their stances when things get flaky. If the debt ceiling isn't raised, things will get even weirder.

DomKen -> RE: DC Dems Starting to Cave, Pressure Pres. Obama and Sen. Reid (10/9/2013 9:52:10 PM)

If the debt ceiling is not raised we're looking at a Constitutional crisis and that could get very ugly very fast.

Ha ha you cons are dreaming.....[:D]

The lunatic fringe today, restored death benefits to our military after fucking them out of their benefits with their extortion scam.

The cons started caving days ago when a few said they`d raise the debt limit while still supporting the ACA/shutdown/extortion.

We know the geopee is losing the rhetorical war....big time. That`s why the republicans get more and more unpopular by the day every time their shutdown fucks someone....

So for the truly delutional out there.....

The President IS NOT going to give into to the ACA blackmail.

The President IS NOT going to concede anything on Social Security....

The President IS NOT going give up on our seniors with Medicare....

He`s not going to negotiate away any part of the safety net.

Like your party fucking our service personnel`s families with their death benefits, there will be many more un-necessary outrages inflicted on more innocent Americans.

Which will mean the stupid party will be continuing to embarrass themselves.

Prediction:

This will end similarly to the South Park episode, where Canada goes on strike.

The cons will get NOTHING............ but will claim they have, so they can declare victory and go home......

It`s going to be so sweet....

Owner59 -> RE: DC Dems Starting to Cave, Pressure Pres. Obama and Sen. Reid (10/9/2013 10:25:54 PM)

Just in...

Cons cave.....

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-10-10/debt-limt-prospects-gain-as-both-sides-open-to-short-deal.html

"Obama has already said he could accept a short-term deal without policy conditions."

The U.S. is entering the final week before it runs out of borrowing authority with a flurry of activity. Lawmakers are looking for a way to break the deadlock that has brought the country into a partial government shutdown and close to the $16.7 trillion debt limit."

~~~~~~~~~~
They`re going to a short term deal ,two months, with NO CONDITIONS for which the President said he supports.....so cons.....LOL!....The President wins...The extortion plot has been busted and it`s just a matter of time for the rest of it to fall apart.
Shutdown Standoff Shows Signs of a Thaw
Near-Term Debt-Limit Increase Gains Support From Conservatives as White House Meeting Is Set
WASHINGTON—The partisan logjam that has paralyzed the capital showed signs of easing Wednesday, as conservative Republicans warmed to the idea of a short-term increase in the country's borrowing limit and House GOP leaders prepared for their first meeting with President Barack Obama since the government shutdown began.
Hell, Steve. Democrats abandon their stances the moment they become inconvenient, anyway. [8|]
We're still a week out from the debt ceiling deadline. My guess is they'll get something in, but since the deal for the last big fight on this was a failure, I think the President is going to have to offer a bit more than, "we'll talk about it later."
Owner59 -> RE: DC Dems Starting to Cave, Pressure Pres. Obama and Sen. Reid (10/9/2013 10:29:41 PM)
He`ll talk about it in a couple months....
Speaking back to the President? Obviously a racist. Did she call him "boy," or was that just in the witnesses heads?
Considering how far willful ignorance has gotten the geopee ......why stop now?
WASHINGTON -- A crack appeared Wednesday morning in the conservatives' united front against President Barack Obama in the budget-and-borrowing crisis of 2013.
Michael Needham, CEO of the powerful group Heritage Action, said that he opposed conditioning a crucial vote to increase the government's borrowing authority on the group's main goal: defunding Obamacare.
Under questioning at a breakfast with reporters, hosted by the Christian Science Monitor, Needham, a product of the Stanford Business School, conceded that failure to raise the debt ceiling would indeed disrupt the global economy.
"I'm sure the markets will react negatively," he said, even if, as he suggested was possible, the Treasury could "prioritize" interest payments to foreign bondholders.
Rather than try to hold the debt ceiling vote hostage to the defunding of Obamacare, he said, the better "tactical" course for Heritage and other key foes of the administration is to continue to focus on annual spending -- and on allowing the full opening of government only if Obamacare is dismantled."
Tactical I tells ya!
