findmedaddy -> Funny strange AND funny haha (7/2/2006 6:15:33 AM)

I just got a message from a man (I think; he or she doesn't have a profile). The message said "2 far away." That was it. Of course I can't reply. Obviously I hadn't sent this person a message or put him or her on a favorites list. So this was just a random message from some random person, and I found it funny.

Sorry it wasn't funnier. This can be such an odd place. Sometimes the Internet, which has opened up so many hypothetical chances for me to meet the man who wants to be the other side of my coin, perversely makes me wish I'd been born somewhere where marriages are arranged and I wouldn't have had any hopes on that score.

And in case you are reading this, god, and thinking about my next life? Just kidding. Please scratch all those countries off the list.

We once got an e-mail that stated :  "This what me fish look like when we eat".  This was good for a few laughs, a few OMG's. and alot of WTF.

Your not alone in getting strange mail.

Do you realize you spent at least 10 times more thought & energy into this idiot's reply than he did forming it??

We all get inane replies on here, some funny ha-ha & some funny strange... as you said.

For me I get what I call a funny ha-ha from the dominant men that express "darn shame you're a dominant" or "too bad I'm (they) am not submissive". The funny strange is an email I get from time to time from a guy asking me if I read the newspaper & if I would enjoying having him hit me in the face with a creme pie.

You just have to get past it, move on & not try to analyze or understand the psyche of every wingnut on the net.

Actually I think it simply meant the person read your posting. In a way it seems like a compliment to me. Like in all other ways, you came across well to this person. Cuz maybe, had you not been so far away, this person would have tried to establish contact with you.

But sometimes, we get so busy we just toss stuff out there. We dont always think about what we're doing. Sometimes we simply 'respond'.

God luck to you.

I should have made clearer that it didn't bother me, I just thought it was odd and fkind of funny. And it reinforced my recent thoughts about how the Internet both opens up possibilities and severely limits them.

Thanks for pointing out, MstreePassion, that it could also be considered a compliment.

And thanks for the creme pie and fish references. Funny!

Um, this is just a guess here.....you know how depending on how many times you click a persons profile photo you will either have a box underneath that says "send a quick note" or one that says "personal notes about this user"? Well maybe, just maybe, the person intended to have it saved as a personal note (cause that's what it sounds like) and sent it as a quick note instead.
Lucky for us, it gives a laugh when reading it.[;)]

MstrssPassion -> RE: Funny strange AND funny haha (7/2/2006 7:18:44 AM)

That feature gets me from time to time. I always look at a profile before replying & I'll be damned if I haven't typed in that area & thought I sent an email. I'm wondering how many times I may have actually did that & didn't catch that I typed in the wrong area...

Maybe this is the source of so many complaints of not getting replies... we are unknowingly typing in the wrong spot!!!

Oh, yes! I hadn't thought of that at all. Thanks!

Good morning, findme. The initial message wasn't that funny, it's true, but you made up for it with your comments on arranged marriages [:D]. Were they from Ghana?

Remember everyone, Ghana = Scam!

Good morning, Level. No, I hasten to report that nobody is offering to arrange any marriages for me. And I pause here to remind god that I'm NOT interested in having one arranged for me in my next life.

My father probably would have done a pretty good job of it. His recommendations for all kinds of things were mostly right on. I forgave him a long time ago -- really, I did -- for suggesting I read Moby-Dick (his favorite book) when I was 10. Even dads get a few mulligans.

JessieMe -> RE: Funny strange AND funny haha (7/2/2006 8:00:07 AM)

My favorite is when they read my profile which has a list of qualities I am looking for in an owner (when I was looking that is) and one of them is ARTICULATE> I am a word freak.. and like thoughts discussed... Then I get emails from interested parties that say "Hi"..

I just figured ... ok.. yep.. he got it ...LOL

TemptingNviceSub -> RE: Funny strange AND funny haha (7/2/2006 11:07:15 AM)

Humm..maybe he got ARTICULATE and SUCCINCT mixed up?..Tempting

Caretakr -> RE: Funny strange AND funny haha (7/2/2006 11:10:37 AM)

fast reply

Feel privileged,I once got this as an email.

[:D]

And when asked what it meant, not a lot more.

MstrssPassion -> RE: Funny strange AND funny haha (7/2/2006 11:16:58 AM)

LOL...

might make one think they were viewed as the topic of this thread... a funny ha-ha or a funny strange.

At least that is what I think when I receive a snickering smiley.

I just fire back a smiley from the list & move along.

bandit25 -> RE: Funny strange AND funny haha (7/2/2006 11:23:32 AM)

Hey!  I got that too.
