Lucylastic -> help me understand please.... (10/14/2013 6:42:14 PM)

ok yes I just got this..... http://www.upworthy.com/congress-did-something-so-spectacularly-creepy-that-its-too-unbelievable-to-make-up?g=2&c=ufb1

from the link, not my words
On the House floor, Congressman Chris Van Hollen decided to get a clarification on the rules of the shutdown. Apparently, normally any congressperson can call for a vote on any bill at any time. But just before the shutdown happened, the GOP quietly passed a measure that said only House Majority Leader Eric Cantor can call for the shutdown to end (unless he gives a designee permission). Not even the most senior GOP congressperson, Speaker of the House John Boehner, is allowed to do it, without permission from his own guy.

Im looking into other "sources" not just TPM(from the link to try a balanced look).... but can someone explain this to me please???

Owner59 -> RE: help me understand please.... (10/14/2013 7:02:15 PM)

The dems found out that they could call for a "clean CR"......which would pass, with all the dems and 20 repubs that would open the federal government....

Then it`s found out that the POS geopeepee leadership changed the rule so that only boner and Can`tor can this......

Those two men are holding our nation and it`s prosperity hostage....

Just read that the geopee`s ratings are dropping again after last week`s record low......

HRes. 368 text

Passed with 221 R's and 7 D's voting in favor, 9 R's and 192 D's voting against, 4 abstained (1 R, 3 D's)

HJRes 59 (the CR)

The House passed a CR and sent it to the Senate. The Senate amended it to include funding for Obamacare. The House has not voted on acceptance of the amended bill.

Without much fanfare, the House passed a rules-changing resolution, putting control of HJRes 59's coming to a vote in the House in the hands of Cantor or his designee.

Technically legal, but no doubt a total "dick move."
