One year ago one of my close friends was riding her motorcycle home from visiting a friend in the hospital. On her way home an 18 year old turned right in front of her. She had no time to react and hit his truck going 55mph and was killed instantly. It was such a horrible day and to make it worse her cousin's 7 year old was suppose to have a birthday party. Just as kids were showing up was when someone called the house and said she was killed and they just saw the police telling her husband in the parking lot of Dollar General and he collapsed and was screaming. Her father and several other of the guys there left to go and be with him while we tried to hold it together for the kids and put on a good party. I kept getting calls on my phone asking if it was true because people were posting on facebook that she was dead. So on top of being in shock and grief and trying not to ruin a little girls birthday party we were having family and friends calling us since they saw on facebook that one of the sweetest person you could imagine was dead. Even people who did not know her well knew how kind she was, she never had a bad word about anyone. She was always smiling and fun to be around. I have the pictures from when she took my little girl on a motorcycle ride and when she would let her get on her bike. I miss her so much and her death was senseless.

Condolences. I never know what else to say. Time does heal, but it takes time to do so.

Thank you, and yes time does help. I still think oh I will call her and then remember I can't. My baby shower was another reminder since she makes awesome cakes and I couldn't go over to her house and pick a baby cake. I saw someone who looked just like her and thought for a second it was her then had that sad moment all over again that it couldn't be her.

@MasterCaneman Me either. Just days after her death the group she was in was suppose to sing at our towns fall party on the square. They had an empty microphone there in her place instead and her husband was there. I could not go up and talk to him, I had no idea what to say. "How are you?" well I knew he was horrible, the woman he loved more then anything for the last 22 years was dead. "I'm sorry" seemed so shallow and everyone else was already saying it. Still a year later when I see him I freeze for a second because I just do not know what to say to him. Yes she was my friend but she was his wife, his loss was much greater then mine.
