Ok, for ONE thing, in many instances a company will let someone go who is creating a hostile work environment for their coworkers. THIS IS WHY YOU REPORT IT TO YOUR MANAGER. If the manager does nothing, it's on THEM when you then have to go over their head to HR. Secondly, AND THIS IS IMPORTANT....DON'T FEED THE TROLLS. If someone starts something, don't keep it going to and fro with comebacks, because guess what, when the conversation is reviewed later by supervisors, you will come out just as guilty as the one who started it (and the same goes for online spats). If the problem is bad enough, they may let BOTH of you go...so, DON'T RETORT, REPORT. These types of people who detract from a company's efficiency and productivity by distracting other workers don't deserve jobs when there are other less drama-happy people needing employment.
