Status: offline 		I don't have many pictures of myself and am a private type of person. I am worried about making a profile picture of myself because I don't want someone I know to find it. With that said when a woman asks for a picture of me the one I send out is of me sitting in a big recliner playing a video game with a little girl (2ish) in the chair next to me. The little girl blongs to a good friend of mine and I generally explain that on the few occasions I've sent it out.

I have read in different places online that women don't really want a naked picture of you as the first picture sent out. So my question is this....Is the picture I sent out a good one to send out or should I try and get some type of different picture? Would a picture of me fully clothed from neck down be received well?

Status: offline 		I wouldn't send out a picture of someone else's kid. As a parent, I wouldn't like my kid's photo being passed around dating sites. It's not that I'm paranoid and think anyone would use it for unsavoury purposes, it's just a privacy thing, you know? Don't give pictures of any children out to people you don't know yet, and never without the parents' permission.

Naked photos are a turn off for most women because nakedness normally comes right before sex, so it's like turning up on a first date and immediately flashing your bits - we're not there yet in the relationship.

Find a picture of you alone doing something you enjoy - cycling, walking in the woods, playing your guitar, cooking, etc. Preferably whole body and not too posed (but equally, not with stained clothes or a messy room in the background). This will show her what you look like and that you have a bit of personality.

If you mean send a clothed photo without a head, don't bother. It tells her nothing more than your approximate shape. Your face is kind of the important part if she wants to see if there is attraction.

Edit to add unsolicited advice: your profile says you are looking for NSA encounters and you are not picky about who you are with. Can you think how that might put some women off? You want kinky sex and anyone will do. Not flattering for a woman - even if she also wants NSA, she wants to believe you picked her because there's something great about her, not just because she has a pulse.

Status: offline 		Sending a pic with someone else's kid in it is in extremely poor taste. Either crop the kid out, or find another pic.

Moderate your behavior on here in the same way you would if you were at a party looking at all the attractive females. Would you show your naked bits? Would you go up to one and start talking about your sexual fantasies? Would you bring your friend's kid along?

See how easy that is?

Anyone with even limited social skills can do that.

Status: offline 		Thanks for the input. I am new to the online dating scene. It sure has changed a lot since the AOL Personals days. You have a good point about the picture I have used. I never really thought of that. As for my profile thank you for the input it is a work in progress. I will "tidy" it up and make it sound better than as you adequately put it "I will have sexy with anything that moves"

Status: offline 		I agree. If you're in a situation where you can't risk having your face shown, try to have someone take a silhouette of you, or a backside shot. Here's a tip: if you've got a stash of old pictures (not too old, though) that may not have been shot the best way, but still show you doing something you like, say working the BBQ grill from behind, why not used one of those? In my experience, just about everyone's got a shot or two of them that way. If it accurately represents you without overtly revealing your identity, use that.

If I discovered that someone had sent a picture of themselves that included one of my children in it to someone else on a kinky dating site I think I'd suffer a pretty physical loss of temper.

Get a pic of just you, fully clothed - looking as you normally do.

Status: offline 		It ALWAYS amazes me and frankly makes me question the common sense capacity of those that post public face pics of themselves along with another person not included in the profile. I once came across someone I knew in a profile pic. She wasn't a part of the profile and I was almost certain she was vanilla. I sent her the pic and asked who the guy was and she replied that it was an ex boyfriend. I asked him to remove the photo and he did. She was none the wiser but I wonder how many people are unwittingly put on this site bc they took a pic with someone who didn't have common sense.
Upon the first few contacts, I never expect a face pic unless they are completely comfortable sending it. I have a local presence in the vanilla world and so I never provide face pics, only recent body pics with the face cropped or blurred out. My tips for sending a good pic would be:
1) Only you in the pic
2) Keep your shorts on. Anything else is acceptable (shirt on or off, shorts, boxers/briefs, swimsuit), but honestly dick pics are just gross.
3) If you are in your underwear... take your damn socks off :)
4) Simple is best. No need to build an extravagant scene, don't snap a pic where your toiletries are all over the counter or your dirty underwear is lying on the floor
5) If you would like to show off your particular fetish(es) then do so tactfully. Wear your favorite pair of panties or lay a paddle next to you.
6) Safety first... make sure your smart phone is not geocoding pictures or putting your name in the properties of the photo. Remove any letters, work name tags, or other material that might contain personally identifiable information.
7) Make it recent and a representation of what the person will see when they finally meet you. It will lessen the awkwardness of the first meet if you show up as the person they were expecting to see.
