CarpeEros -> System questions (10/19/2013 12:38:15 AM)

Hello,
This is Panaeros with "Carpe Eros" ID...and my introduction of myself is....actually I just want to post a system question...I looked over the forum/board names...did not see one for "Questions about the CM system"...tried reading FAQ, no go...tried the Search of the forums, also no luck...

If there is a forum, could someone share its url?

Meanwhile, not the only question but the main one for now -- my "visitors" list of folks viewing my profile...I've seen several times something that is puzzling,...one of them has "viewed [my] profile" on Oct 14...but her "last time logging in" is "Oct 10". Ok, how can she have viewed my profile on the 14th if she has not been on since Oct 10? If it's a known system error, or some explanation of how to interpret it that I am missing, or an error at my end (I'm using firefox on linux) or other...would be curious to know.

Also a TOS question..I did try to read it all when I signed up but don't remember seeing it - if I post a story on the Writings board, does CM claim any sort of "we own it" or "we partially own it" type of intellectual property rights? If the answer is no, I'd probably want to post entire stories, but if the answer is otherwise, I'd maybe post just the first few paragraphs (I assume it's ok to include a link to my 100% non-commercial personal site which has my essays and erotica...)

This post is about as coherent as I am going to be at his hour so I'll end with those two questions and wish everyone a safe and happy weekend! :-)

angelikaJ -> RE: System questions (10/19/2013 12:56:33 AM)

First, the TOS links are here and here.

(But you can also scroll to the bottom of the page to find it.)

As for you last on question, people have the option of not listing their last on dates within their profile settings.

LadyPact -> RE: System questions (10/19/2013 1:19:12 AM)

All of a sudden, I've seen a bunch of questions regarding the site and is it working properly. I don't know if there is something going on or not, but your questions aren't from anything that isn't working properly.

A view of a profile (date/time) that doesn't match their "last on" date can be a few things. One can be that the profile was hidden the last time the other person viewed you.

The way that I interpret ToS is, yes, if you post it here, the site has rights to it. Here is section 9.3

quote:

9.3. Copyright - This Website belongs to Us, and we either own or have rights to display all of the materials thereupon. You may not use any of Our materials without Our express written consent.

Many members here have links in their sig lines to other sites. I doubt yours would be a problem. There are certain links that can't be in your sig line. For example, I was asked by the Mods to remove the link to My group over on Fet. So, if it is a problem, you would be contacted.

I hope that helps.

Since LP has covered your question about the Writings board, I'll chime in with angelikaJ that "people have the option of not listing their last on dates within their profile settings."

I for one set up My Account with this option because I don't think it's anybody's business to know when I'm logged in or when I was last logged on. If they're that interested in finding out whether mine is an active profile, they can check to see when I made my last forum post (or JE but I rarely update my Journal).

OP, FYI your user profile can be viewed by anyone without their having to sign up on CM, and this will never appear on your visitor's list. They only need to fill in the electronic sig line to verify they are 18 or older. I've been doing this lately because there are times when I don't want somebody to get the wrong idea why I was perving their profile. (Be logged out when you do this; I make sure I'm logged out on both sides, on Collarchat also.) I'm on another dating site where I provide this non-user link to my CM profile for kinky vanilla guys so that if they're not D/s-compatible with me, I won't waste my time continuing to message back & forth with them. (I could drag out this getting-to-know-you process, but I'd rather cut to the chase. No point in either of us getting our expectations up for nothing.)

Actually that works with a click on submit, even without filling in the box.

CarpeEros -> RE: System questions (10/19/2013 2:39:57 PM)

I appreciate everyone's input. Thanks for the links to TOS angelikaJ, I will save and read over, and have keyword searched on ownership.

The only explanation I could think of, for "last on 10/10/13" and "last viewed you 10/14/13" as I posted, was exactly the one you cited, that I know from viewing profiles that the "last on" field is sometimes turned off. Now I know that on any given website, the sysops generally prefer being sent a note saying "I've scheduled an appointment with the dentist for you, just for fun" ;-) to users making suggestions on how to improve the software [;)] so I'll just muse out loud that the mouseover message in "Who's viewing me" could be more consistent by just not saying anything for "last on" for profiles who viewed you, but who chose not to share their "last on" (seriously any admins if any reading this, I am, with plenty of humor, just sharing this thought I'm not one of those users who say "change this software feature tomorrow or the world will end, omg!"

Another theory if I'm reading right is that someone was reading my profile on Oct 14 but last logged on Oct 10, which would seem impossible but it's not at all impossible if "last on" (which I notice doesn't say "last online" but "last on" so not entirely inconceivable that one can Log Out and have the system check cookies to know it's that person who is looking at my profile) could mean CM system says "ok, such and such user who is not logged on officially, is, today, Oct 14, viewing CarpeEros' profile"

But yes this user (I'd rather err on the side of being over protective of her privacy so have not given her ID, though there's nothing going on, and I don't have interest in her, just puzzled over the backwards seeming dates during MouseOver of her user ID at "who's viewed you") let me see...just clicked to view her profile...no, her profile does not hide "last on" her profile says the same "last on: 10/10/13" as the mouseover does on the Who's Viewing Me page whose mouseover says "Viewed you on Oct 14"

No matter, presumably either of those or a variant, is the explanation. I don't care too much; mostly I do and did care to confirm there is not some glitch with my browser or my OS being nonstandard...and it seems that is not likely to be the case, so it's all good...if it's just the way the system works, that's not the end of the world, even if it does look like she used a time machine was used :-)

TigressLily, yes, I realize there are folks who view my profile that I'll never see on the "Whose Viewing Me?" page, I was just wondering about the ones that do appear, but which the page tells me have viewed me at a later date than their "last on" date... As for

That is a key distinction that does matter - either they "own" or else "have right to display" I don't mind really, if by posting a story I'm 1) Giving CM the "right to display" my story on CM. Another level would be 2) CM has the right to post is elsewhere and another possibility 3) CM now "owns" the entire work. I'm entirely ok with 1), on the fence regarding how I feel about 2), and would NOT want to post my entire erotic story if it were 3).... Either way, good to hear, LadyPact, that CM is unlikely to mind a link to my page if I post just an excerpt...since I've poted all of about 5 times including this one, over these years, I could not be entirely certain whether lack of Admin concern about my .sig was just not noticing it yet..Looks like it's ok...

But still if anyone can clarify which of 1), 2), or 3) or other is the correct interpretation when posting stories, I'd appreciate it....since posting an entire story even very long one might be better, people complain if you "make them" have to (omg) click on a link to read the rest of the story ;-) (one anxious sub even wrote me asking how the next day turned out, a polite way of hinting about me writing a sequel without asking me to write a sequel? That's almost a bad as politely, technically not asking, about CM upgrading their software, the *nerve* of such users, glad I can't think of any who would do that ;-)

"But the plans were on display ..."

"On display? I eventually had to go down to the cellar to find them."

"That's the display department."

"With a flashlight."

"Ah, well the lights had probably gone."

"So had the stairs."

"But look, you found the notice didn't you?"

"Yes," said Arthur, "yes I did. It was on display in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying 'Beware of the Leopard'."

I know the <strike> will not format, just a little Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy humor..

All excellent questions.

#1) URL shares...no.

#2) The person who last signed in on the 10th, but viewed on the 14th...they are using my anti grav...."oh shit, we just time traveled...wrong button (my bad)" machine.

#3 CM owns nothing. I do...and I just sold your life story. Expect a call to verify specifics.

Was going to say that I was the buyer....so I own my life story...maybe not so funny, except, it's even less so, in the age of NSA...which owns all of us (searching ("October 24, 1994" Dilbert) will bring up an apropos cartoon) In seriousness, a good bet is within 30 years, or far less, most or all of us will be outed, or out-able. It just takes one leak, one hacker, one accident, then can't be undone, no 'undo' button. Oh well. Ashes and diamonds, foe and friend, we were all equal, in the end. Not looking forward but there are worse things than being outed. By then it might be less the bdsm than, did we treat others with respect? Speaking of which, out of respect for others' time, I think I'll try to do some more research myself, before asking more questions, to resolve what's as yet not entirely clear, namely, after one posts, say, an erotic story, whether CM claims the right to just have it here on the board, or the right to post it on other sites, or wider rights of ownership.
