Please consider sharing if you are in the US. This is a horrid thing that happened just a couple of miles from me. I do not understand how someone could just drive on after causing something this tragic.

The Marietta Police Department Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) are currently investigating a fatal hit and run crash which occurred at approximately 1:45pm on Saturday, October 26, 2013 in the southbound lanes of I-75 at Delk Road.

Initial on scene investigation reveals that a multicolored (champagne, tan and bluish green) box style RV with a flat front was travelling in the middle lanes of I-75 southbound when it changed lanes and struck the left rear quarter panel of a white Toyota Camry.

The driver of the Camry lost control of the vehicle and crossed all lanes of I-75 where it struck a black Toyota Prius. The Prius stuck the median wall and flipped causing the front seat passenger, who was not wearing a seat belt, to be partially ejected from the vehicle. Two other vehicles were struck by the Camry after it lost control during the accident but no other injuries were reported.

The front seat passenger of the Prius, identified as Bradley Braland, 40 years old of Winter Garden, Florida, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The female driver of the Prius suffered minor injuries and was transported to Kennestone Hospital. The 4 year old boy in the back seat of the Prius was not injured in the crash. The RV that caused the crash should have damage to the right front quarter panel. Investigators are asking anyone that may have witnessed the crash or who may have seen the RV in question to please contact Officer Nick Serkedakis at 770-794-5266.

Gee thanks for helping spread the word so we can try to find this RV. Your kindness is overwhelming.

My capacity for logic is even more so. [sm=book.gif]

Came across as pretty rude and highly insensitive, not logical. Someone lost their life because of someone else's carelessness while operating their vehicle. Accidents happen, yes. But if they do, you stop and do what you are supposed to do. Not run like some chickenshit coward.

Would you have still had some smartass comment if they were wearing their seatbelt and still died in that accident anyway? My friend happened to die in a hit and run accident over here fairly recently AND he happened to be wearing his seatbelt when his vehicle was plowed into. Lemme guess...logic would say it was his own fault for driving on the road that day? Or perhaps damn him for his sense of responsibility for daring to show up for work like he was supposed to?

I've passed this message along to some friends I have in the area, JAS. I'm sure they already know about it, but it couldn't hurt.

No. You may consider looking up the definitions of "logic" and "smartass" in a dictionary. Of all the variables that affected the outcome of that accident, the seat belt was the easiest one to fix. Note how it said that the only person who died in the accident was the one without the seat belt. Everyone else - even the 4-year-old in the back seat of the flipped Prius - will live.

This reminds me of all the bikers who died because they weren't wearing a helmet, followed by the massive outcry of "Oh noes, how could that have happened? He was so smart! (Even though apparently not smart enough for a helmet.) Oh Lordy Lord!" All because of a simple choice not taken, a precaution callously ignored.

No, that was just bad luck. It happens from time to time. You are clearly highly emotionally vested in this seat belt issue. Please take a deep breath, pour yourself a beverage of choice and/or have some of your favorite food. Calm down. Everything is fine. And don't forget to wear your seat belt. [;)]

Thank you. Who knows where they were heading, so the more places it is seen, the more likely it will help find them.

Not sure if the RV was local or not, but I called attention to all of my FB friends on the eastern seaboard. Knowing my group, they will tell their friends and so on and so on. Thanks for calling attention to it. I wouldn't have known otherwise

OMG ..... I'm just down the road on I-20. Who knows if they stayed on I-75 or not .... I've passed it along.

Message has been passed along, but there truth to the logic, wearing seat belts are necessary.

UPDATE

http://www.cbsatlanta.com/story/23796935/fatal-crash-on-i-75-southbound-delk-road

ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Marietta police has identified the driver they believe caused a wreck that left a father dead, damaged several other cars and backed up traffic on I-75 for miles.

Police say the driver is Dannie Mondor, 52, of Canada who also has property in Cape Coral, Florida.

Mondor has been charged with improper lane change, felony hit and run, and felony first degree homicide.

Authorities have talked with Mondor over the phone, but have not yet apprehended him, and say his whereabouts are unknown.

Haven't read the link.

But improper lane change!!!

The US "freeways" are a free for all.

In the UK, the inside lane is the official speed limit. Lorries etc who cant drive at that speed stay in it, unless they come across something going even slower. You go into the second lane to overtake them. You go into the third lane to overtake the rest.

In the US you undertake, overtake whenever you want. Most terrifying driving experience I ever had.
