I still remember one breathless dominant proclaiming how obamacare had been a smashing success.. How the websites had crashed under the enormous loads and more than a million people had already signed up.

Except that it was *all* a lie.

2713 people were enough to crash the website.
6 people signed up.

And that 30 million -- oops 7 million --target for this year? Yea.. we might hit a million.

Lies. And next time name me if you choose to attack me.
The fact is 4.7 million unique visitors hit the site in the first 24 hours and it did crash under the load. 2000 odd hits in a test the week before the opening strongly suggests that some work was done in the intervening week which anyone with any knowledge of software testing would have known (didn't you claim to know about software? Including a mythical data recovery scheme better than RAID that doesn't use additional storage?).

The fact is that that 5 million figure has already been debunked and proven inaccurate. Complete fabrication, mostly originating from California.

CBO testimony: the website crashed with 2700 visitors.

And I'll make my comments in the manner and style of choosing, oh factless.

Another lie. The number has been released. 4.7 million unique visits to healthcare.gov in the first 24 hours. You've debunked nothing.

The 2700 hits was a test more than a week before launch. If you knew anything about software deployment you would know that stuff occurs and is part of the test cycle. It does not mean 2700 hits would take down the site on deployment. Especially since we know it survived far more hits than that on the first day.

Decreases in defense budget are fine - so long as cuts occur in social spending as well - which is where the vast amount of government spending is occurring anyway.

Another lie. Most of the government's discretionary spending is in defense and intelligence. What you would cut that you claim makes up most government spending is SS and Medicare which are programs the recipients paid into their entire working lives. Cutting that would break a fundamental promise made to hard working Americans, plunge millions now retired and millions more soon to retire into poverty and cause many of them to die from treatable illnesses. All because you hold to a bankrupt philosophy that cannot even acknowledge the fact that it has failed completely and utterly.

As a matter of fact SS and Medicare would be completely funded from now well past the life expectancy of everyone alive today by simply lifting the limit of taxable income under FISA. Even more significantly it is well documented that a 20% increase in SS payments would stimulate the economy far more effectively than any other possible use for those funds.

The number has been released. 4.7 million unique visits to healthcare.gov in the first 24 hours.

The website launched on a Tuesday. Publicly, the government said there were 4.7 million unique visits in the first 24 hours. But at a meeting Wednesday morning, the war room notes say "six enrollments have occurred so far..." By Wednesday afternoon, enrollments were up to "approximately 100." By the end of Wednesday, the notes reflect "248 enrollments" nationwide. The health care exchanges need to average 39,000 enrollees a day to meet the goal of seven million by March 1. ~CBS News

In other news...

After multiple attempts to access the problem-plagued website, Hadley finally made it past the registration page Thursday. That’s when he was greeted with downloadable letters about eligibility — for two people in South Carolina...

Last week, the Associated Press disclosed a government memo revealing the “high” security risk for HealthCare.gov. Those concerns surfaced at Wednesday’s hearing with HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, who claimed the system was secure...

After examining the letter Hadley downloaded, Heritage health policy analyst Chris Jacobs noted the irony of HHS’ promise: “The Health Insurance Marketplace protects the privacy and security of personally identifiable information.”

“Justin’s story demonstrates how Obamacare’s flaws go well beyond a bungled website,” Jacobs said. “From canceled coverage to skyrocketing premiums to the federal government’s failing to protect Americans’ personal data, the damage Obamacare has inflicted is becoming more and more clear each day.”
~The Foundry

That should help stimulate enrollments.

Did I say the bulk of **************DISCRETIONARY**************
spending was entitlement programs?

No. Of course not. So let me repeat. The bulk of GOVERNMENT spending is on entitlements.

So for example: Here we see that entitlement spending was 2.1 trillion dollars.

Divide by the budget (estimate) of 3.8 trillion - and you get 55.3%.

Ie., that the government is spending more than half its money on entitlement programs. And that doesn't yet include hundreds of billions of dollars of discretionary social spending either.

You might be more persuasive if you were occasionally unbiased; or even more occasionally, right.

By the way, is Mohammed the Prophet, Ken?
Why no answer?

deceitful edit noted. You already know the answers to these questions since the answers were in the part of my previous post you edited out.

As to your stupid and ignorant attack on me, I'm an atheist. I view all religions as laughable but have the intellectual honesty to actually read and understand the works holy to billions of people. It's too bad so many people, including certain deceitful posters here, choose to not actually follow the ones they claim to.

Just curious what you consider to be the deceitful edit? Do pray tell.

Do you doubt that spending 2.1 trillion dollars on entitlement programs is a vast government expenditure?????

Question:

How many people are signed up under the Massachusetts Health Care Reform Act?

Answer:

97% of the population.

An do you know what will happen in a few months, Phydeaux? Tens of millions of Americans will get health care plans. Millions will pay the fine. Either way, the grand majority of Americans will be following the current laws on the books. In a few months will you come back here, and tell all of us that you were wrong? Or merely slink back into the shadows, denying to your dying breath that you ever said anything like you are now? It happened with George W. Bush on those 'massive stockpiles' of 'weapons of mass destruction' in Iraq. How many did we find, Phydeaux? Which is why in a few months, you'll be proved wrong. This is not a belief, this is knowing human behavior as it relates to laws in America. People will get health care plans. The issue with the website, while annoying at the moment, will get fixed.

So lets play a game joether.

We'll call this game rational thinking.

:)

By the first day on the healthcare.gov site that was overloaded and down most of that day. You know that 20+ states are doing this independently and they've signed up hundreds of thousands of people.

Snicker: No, and neither do you.
No authoritave figures are being released, and the overwhelming numbers of people that are signed up are not for insurance - its for *medicare*.

Congrats. We've moved people from paying for insurance to a government entitlement. Which is what you wanted all along.
Just don't pretend its insurance.

The thing that blows me away is....no one is discussing what this thing was always intended to be:

A giant new bucket of cash to dip in to, with SSI becoming a giant black hole, disemboweling the feds innate ability to buy 600 dollar toilet seats or hammers.

Nothing more.

It was never intended to provide national health care.

And of course, it never will.

However, in 12 years you'll see headlines explaining why this system is going broke "but....we can fix it for 75 years".

(Just like they fixed SSI....the previous deep pocket of fun).

The insurance companies are putting the fucks to the American people, why won't the nutsackers down there in the house do something?  Oh, they are inept obstructionists, there is nothing that helps the corporations by them creating level playing fields for their constituents.

No...that happened about 35 - 50 years after those programs were instituted.

Did you have a point Thompson, or were you, as per usual, simply looking to be demonstrative, and generally ineffectual?
