Personally, I separate "knife play" and "cutting play" as the former doesn't (and usually doesn't, in my experience) involve actually cutting (beyond what is really just a fine scrape on the skin, not actually breaking it).

Various ways to do knife play: Combine it with temperature play using the blade hot or cold, of course using different parts of the blade for different sensations (point, edge, flat, handle), tapping, striking, poking, very careful techniques of vaginal and mouth insertions, mindfucks regarding it being cutting play, cutting or shaving off a person's hair with it, mindful of doing such when a person values their hair highly, texture differences in the width and smooth vs roughness or seration of the blades, texture differences in the materials the blades are made of, the emotion effect using a knife itself causes on some people, cutting off clothing, and so on.

Knife play, as opposed to cutting play, is more psychological.

Ok, I'm thinking pirate role play and a good spanking with a cutlass. <grin>

The most popular? Well for KoM and I, he uses his knives as a mind fuck or to scratch/run the knife over my skin, no cutting. He does use it differently for the other girls

I like to use it as a bit of a mind fuck, and while I'm behind her, keep the tip firmly on her rear, and make her try to not move while I'm driving her home.

Go for it! My late owner carved his name into my belly with his sharp little Spyderco Harpy. Although I guess that would technically be cutting more than knife play.

Or go full Kana and carve your name on her tit like my profile pic :-)

I love blades.I like sharp shiny cutting things.I have knives, razors, scalpels, a wakazashi, two katana's and at least two other swords kicking round the basement.
I like doing razorplay, do things like give massages with razor blades. Light long quick slashes caressing and running along her body.twist and turn the edge. Then slash down hard with a credit card where she can't see-for second she's gonna think you really cut her.
As evidenced by my profile pic,I also do some cutting. For that I use surgical scalpels, fresh from the pack.

And once cutting is done, Knife play enters a brand new psychological zone because she knows I will cut her. That adds a whole new element of fear/trust/letting go to the play.

I like doing gyno things with knives-open her wide, trace around in her cunt or ass with the tip or a blade.
Now at this point I should mention a few things. I took weapons combat for years as a kid, so I'm trained with swords and knives. As in,I've been in a knife fight. Then I spent a decade as a chef working with steel 50 hrs a week. It would be fair to say I'm pretty well versed in blades.
Hard core knife play-yeah-don't do it unless you have a clue what the fuck you are about

I love knives and cutting. We use them in both rape and torture play! He uses them to cut my clothing off, instill fear in me and cut and stab me! Yowza! As far as knives go, we like Smith and Wesson and Tops brand. Survival knives, heavy, full tang. The scarier and more manacing looking the better! Not to mention we can use the same knives when we go camping! (They're thoroughly cleaned and sharpened before used on me of course!)
