Nobody ever said that believing in fate doesn't mean that you aren't proactive.

I don't believe that anything is meant to be, or that any of us have one ideal partner that we will eventually find. I think all of us have a lot of different people who can be reasonable partners.

In my experience, few things that are worthwhile come without expending effort. But there aren't any guarantees.

I believe in fate and being proactive. I had a profile here and on fet, and went to local BDSM events. I also had a profile on OKCupid, which is where He found me.

God Will Save Me

A terrible storm came into a town and local officials sent out an emergency warning that the riverbanks would soon overflow and flood the nearby homes. They ordered everyone in the town to evacuate immediately.

A faithful Christian man heard the warning and decided to stay, saying to himself, “I will trust God and if I am in danger, then God will send a divine miracle to save me.”

The neighbors came by his house and said to him, “We’re leaving and there is room for you in our car, please come with us!” But the man declined. “I have faith that God will save me.”

As the man stood on his porch watching the water rise up the steps, a man in a canoe paddled by and called to him, “Hurry and come into my canoe, the waters are rising quickly!” But the man again said, “No thanks, God will save me.”

The floodwaters rose higher pouring water into his living room and the man had to retreat to the second floor. A police motorboat came by and saw him at the window. “We will come up and rescue you!” they shouted. But the man refused, waving them off saying, “Use your time to save someone else! I have faith that God will save me!”

The flood waters rose higher and higher and the man had to climb up to his rooftop.

A helicopter spotted him and dropped a rope ladder. A rescue officer came down the ladder and pleaded with the man, "Grab my hand and I will pull you up!" But the man STILL refused, folding his arms tightly to his body. “No thank you! God will save me!”

Shortly after, the house broke up and the floodwaters swept the man away and he drowned.

When in Heaven, the man stood before God and asked, “I put all of my faith in You. Why didn’t You come and save me?”

And God said, “Son, I sent you a warning. I sent you a car. I sent you a canoe. I sent you a motorboat. I sent you a helicopter. What more were you looking for?”

Totally agree K,

I read in one of my Tarot books recently, this analogy.

'Determinism is the hand that you're dealt, how you play that hand is free will'

So yes, I believe in fate, up to a certain point.

People often get fate and destiny mixed up.
Once you have made a choice of your own free will, then your choice will be subject to fate.
Based on the choice that was made, and actions taken or not taken, there are consequences.
Destiny is more than a choice, other than choosing to be guided by destiny.
Destiny is where your life takes you based on your dreams and visions for the future.
Where your aspirational dreams and hopes converge at a future point is where you meet your destined path.

Imagine how you want your DreamMaster to be in your interactions together, cinderella44 (or DreamMistress, as the case may be).
There is no fated choice to trust in because you have not made that choice yet.
When you avail yourself of opportunities to cross paths with the right dominant for you,
then it will be up to you to choose wisely according to the laws of attraction, with a discerning mind.

P.S. Sometimes it is a matter of the right timing. You are at the right place in your life, and he is in his.
This is not always under the most ideal conditions, but in terms of mutual readiness.

You could be right, but, I won't lose any sleep over it though [:)].

It is up to each individual how hard they try ... and when someone makes the effort, it can happen.

No rhyme or reason to it ... just kind of happens. Same way as in vanilla life.

That said, if one does not make an honest effort; like getting to know each other, it will never occur either.

So maybe the answer to the question is:

How hard are you willing to work to find a Dom/Domme???

If you're asking me whether I think there is some sort of master plan, then my answer is "yes". That'd be MY plan. No, I do not believe in fate. I believe in life handing me a series of challenges and opportunities which are partly random and partly the results of my previous decisions. I believe I make my own luck... both by the strength of those previous decisions and by wisdom in seeing the opportunities as they float by.

If I wanted to meet a dom, I'd go to where doms hung out and meet some. Of those, I'm sure I'd like some of them and some of them would like me. With any luck there'd be a happy compromise. Honestly though, meeting life partners has never been my problem in life.

I had profiles up in several places but the people I met through them were not at all what I was searching for. I left the profiles up but was no longer looking when I met someone at a party and we've been together for 2 years.

Meeting the one thats for you takes lots of talking and trial and error. I learned that my Master and pet were the ones for me after talking to many from here and ending up still coming back to my friendship with Chaos and Felinefae. sooooooooooooo we ended up together. then the hardest trial of fate was when his job forced us to seperate. it took 4 years and such but fae and i kept in contact and even though at the time i was married and in other relationships i kept comming back to wanting them back in my life. well in May of this year the time came and i put my foot down and they said they wanted me back so now we are back together and he is changing jobs and fate has brought us back together and we will do anything to keep us together no matter what it takes.

I don't believe in fate but I certainly do in Karma. Sadly she is a bit of a sadistic woman.

I agree. I also believe in the karma concept, and that a person reaps what they sow, to use a Biblical reference.

The older I am, the more I see these things are true. The life I have now, is the one I've been building for the last 40 years.

Dreamless -> RE: Do you believe in fate? (11/16/2013 6:47:43 AM)

Yes. Sometimes I lay down cards when I'm in need of something to contemplate. I flip coins to make decisions.

But I also believe your fate is what you make it. When I disagree with the coin flip, or the dice roll, then it still was instrumental in me realizing my mind had been made up all along.

And then I go with what I decided.

Make your own luck. Use tools of chance not as chance but meditative processes to understand better how your own mind works. Karma's real, it's the end result of what you make of your luck. What if it was meant to be, and you were supposed to be on that bus, but instead you sat at home and waited and hoped for "meant to be" to knock on your door? To get that job you gotta go to the interview, to find that sale you have to be in the store.

Make your own master plan. Isn't it better to charge running into fate than wait hoping it'll happen?

chatterbox24 -> RE: Do you believe in fate? (11/16/2013 7:00:43 AM)

I absolutely believe in fate. I believe our lives are already written. Through out our lives a series of choices will be represented, and our lives can take directions by our own choice. Life is a great maze of twists and turns, and the twist and turn you chose everyday takes you to a certain end. We determine our fate because of free will and choice. I do believe it is divided though, fate through choice. There is not one fate, but the possibility of many.
