I didn't like rope for many of the reasons already cited, especially the tightening a struggle can cause. Aside from a 'fast rope' (like the rodeo guys do), I avoided it. Another reason is, frankly, I suck at tying knots, a personal failing since I was a Boy Scout. I know five or six, but they're only utility knots good for camping and work, not play. I lean towards medical-grade restraints for a long-term scene, more than a few minutes to a few hours. Another reason is, good rope isn't cheap, and unless you're really good with it, you end up chawing it up with repeated play And I'll offer a limited defense to the OP as to asking a question the already know the answer to. It's not a game, it just provides one with a differing take on a subject.
