Wasn't sure where to put this...

So, my new favorite game on CM is to reverse image search profile pics and email the account owner who stole them and is using them to scam the results.

I have yet to receive a response (surprise) and usually just get ignored or blocked and they move along freely.

Is the *only* thing I can do *really* just to click the "Report" button on their picture and hope that x number of other people will come along and do the same so it will be taken down by the automated script? There *has* to be a better way to do this. Some of these profiles have been up for far too long and have blatant, clear, and unquestionable fake origins. Google works wonders and pictures don't lie.

Please don't tell me nobody on the site (moderators, owners, webmasters, anyone) actually cares and there's literally nothing else I/we can do to get rid of these scumbag scammers who, as far as I am aware, are illegally using images they do not own...

Maybe there could be a page/thread where users like myself could post the image trail that proves beyond any doubt the profile is a fake and someone from the site can come through and check them off one by one and issue IP bans or *something*???

A thread of that nature would not be permitted.

Please contact support regarding these photos as the guidelines have recently changed to say that you can only post photos that you have taken yourself.

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: Fakes (11/7/2013 5:17:39 PM)

Click the Report User button found on every profile and then click the Report User Photos button. Photo reports are reviewed by volunteer staff. The moderators have said this multiple times and, if you'd bothered to use the Search feature, you would already know that.

anniezz338 -> RE: Fakes (11/7/2013 5:18:07 PM)

It seems people say scammers and fakes are time wasters. Isn't it just as much of a time waster to whine about them or chase them all down and report them? Just sayin....

LadyPact -> RE: Fakes (11/7/2013 5:27:22 PM)

Are we in a full moon phase or something?

OK. First, OP, you have way too much time on your hands.

Second, there is such a thing as a DMAC report. That means if YOU OWN THE PHOTO AND CAN PROVE IT, you can file that report with the site. If you don't own the copyright, you can't prove that the person who is using it on their profile doesn't. If you know the person who owns the photo, you can contact them, have them open an account here and THEY can deal with the staff/Admins to go through the process of who the photo belongs to.

Other than that, I'm not really sure why it would be your concern. Granted, I don't like folks who misrepresent themselves, either, but I just block and move on.

I did, and was just checking that there was nothing else a user could do to help. No need to be snide.

Well, it's a wrong out there in the world. Some people can sit and watch it roll by and do nothing, the more power to them! I choose to act and do what little I can to get rid of it. I want this site to be a better place, and I want the community to be stronger and rid of the scum that, frankly, give it a bad name. You'd be alarmed at the number of fakes each page I see.

The alternative is to turn this into a dreaded yahoo chat room, where it's literally 80 spam messages every second and no human interaction is possible because the people in charge or with the power to do anything simply couldn't be bothered. I try to strive for a more proactive approach to life. It seems I'm (nearly) alone in this, though!

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: Fakes (11/7/2013 5:34:29 PM)

If you'd really used the search feature to check, then you'd already know that:

1. The moderators have said posting on the forums will not do anything since the moderators on the forums have no control over the personals side;

2. Blacklisting, which is what you suggested doing, is a violation of the TOS;

3. That you should either use the reporting feature provided or contact Support.

I call bullshit. No mas pantalones.

Indeed, saving the world, one BDSM site at a time. Don't dislocate your shoulder patting yourself on the back there, Chief.

Why is it ok for you to use images in your profile that don't belong to you, but if others do so, they are fake?
Shall we report you as well then, in hopes you get removed from the site for, god forbid, scamming?

Jatyourservice08 -> RE: Fakes (11/7/2013 5:44:19 PM)

Goodness, not sure why I thought the forums would be helpful lol...

Oh internet, you never cease to impress.

Heaven forbid people have photos published in other places...

SeekingTrinity -> RE: Fakes (11/7/2013 5:51:52 PM)

~FRing it~

OP, I honestly don't really care enough to get bent out of shape over fakes, phonies, or any of the other stuff people like yourself routinely complain about. Why are you letting it get your undies so twisted up in your crack?

Block them if they bother you. Hide them if you can't stand the site of them. Easy peasy...and it saves your ass from being invaded by your Fruit of the Looms. I swear it's not that hard. I've been on these forums since 2006 under my old individual profile. That's 7 years and I've never reported one profile in that entire time.

It's like trying to hold back the ocean with a broom. You aren't going to stop it. So why let it bug you so much?

littlewonder -> RE: Fakes (11/7/2013 8:31:33 PM)

I've got better things to do like you know....work, school, friends, partner, family, hobbies, errands, etc.....maybe you should try some of those to take all that time off of your hands.

You probably already knew this, but it's DMCA.

OP, don't sweat it. You haven't been on the internet very long; there's no shame in that. However, if you think people on this thread are saying nothing of value, then you probably aren't very bright.

LadyPact -> RE: Fakes (11/7/2013 9:45:26 PM)

Crap. You are right, Red. Transposed the letters as I was typing quickly.

Sorry about that.

MasterCaneman -> RE: Fakes (11/7/2013 11:02:34 PM)

Life is too short to tilt at windmills. When I first signed on here, I had a ball messing with the fakes and scammers. I didn't bitch about them-they were part of my amusement. After a while, word got around that my profile wasn't a potential payoff and hey presto!-the only mail in my inbox here are from people I actually talk to.

It's not your job to "make this a better place". It's the job of the owners/mods/and admins. I mainly come here for the forums now anyway, so I could give two flying wet fucks if they are scammers, fakes, frauds, fin-ducks, whatever annoys you. Things can only bother you if you let them, and if you're that thin-skinned you can't deal with it, maybe you better find another outlet. Just a thought.

needlesandpins -> RE: Fakes (11/8/2013 2:17:44 AM)

what really amazes me is that these crusaders come into the forum......a different site may I add to the other site.......to bitch about fakes, scammers and time wasters, but not only can they not be bothered to use the search function to find the billion and 1 other threads of the same ilk, they also can't even be bothered to look at the very first page full of posts they come to. moreover, the very top posts on that page where they'd discover a thread exactly the same as theirs. the mind boggles that they don't have time for that, but they have time to sit sifting through hundreds of profiles a day to find all these fakes and scammers in the first place.

tip for the guys; put the same effort and time into the forum as you put into trying to please your cock. that way you'll find you're preaching to the choir who don't give a crap about the other side because we are here on this different site. now you may understand the snark.

needles

LadyPact -> RE: Fakes (11/8/2013 2:43:14 AM)

I think we're on the same page, needles, but I have My own slant.

I always wonder just how long this process takes. Would it add up to the same amount of time as going to a munch or meeting someone for coffee? If it's really such a time wasting endeavor, why not just go where the kinky people are and everyone looks like they already do?
