That is a good idea, I have done that in the past. The fun started when I got the stuff I had stored out and began to realize that some of the stuff I did not wear often at all.

I have never really been a clothes hound, pocket tees, jeans, flannel shirts, gym shorts and sweats. However, well meaning family members have given me dress shirts, polo shirts, and other items that I rarely, if ever, wear.

And dont get me started on ties.

My suggestion is to first go through the clothes to decide if you actually wear it often enough to justify keeping it, and go from there.

I'm not a big fan of space saver bags for clothes.

If they are out of season clothes, I would consider storing them in a container of some sort that you can go into easily if the weather changes or you travel somewhere with a different climate.

What if you decide you want a shirt that you put in a space saver bag? You have to open the bag to get it.

What if you don't remember which bag you put it in? You have to open every bag until you find it.

If you don't wear some of your t-shirts any more, you might consider donating them to a thrift shop or homeless shelter.

I agree with this observation. If you label the containers, I would not recommend my labeling system, i.e "kitchen Stuff" "bedroom stuff" "stuff"

I still wear them, and they're very special to me, i'm just naked 99 percent of the time since i hardly go anywhere. So there they are, in the closet waiting to be used. I have started getting rid of some of the things i do not like, i donated them to a thrift store, and i am happy to do that because thrift stores usually do not get fat women sizes.

LadyAnne, there is that, I do already have some space saver bags huge XXL ones and some medium ones, i could try it and if i don't like it then no harm no foul.

maybe if they were ordinary shirts, but these are hand made for me, of course not the shirt itself, but the design on it, and i covet clothing that expresses my inner child tastes, and they'll have to fall apart, be completely to damaged to salave or some other uncontrollable or unforseen thing before i'd get rid of them:)

The space saver bags were a great idea at first, but then they come open, they tear easily...just didn't work for us.

ours were durable, but they did come unsealed a lot. sometimes it was almost right away and sometimes it was after a month. their seal tab thingie does pull off really easy, and can be hard to get back on though.

Weird, I've got some Space Saver bags I've used for 10 or 15 years (in fact one contains all My corsets and opera gloves). I have NEVER had them open up or tear. In fact the corset-containing one is in a drawer on top of a bunch of other junk I need to get to frequently, so it gets rubbed and bent a lot. I've got both the original vacuum-required ones and the ones you just squeeze the air out of.

Perhaps the older ones like Mine are made of a thicker material. You could try ordering them directly from the manufacturer instead of at a department store. They might be of higher quality if you do.
