LittleGirlHeart -> is there a way to turn off the sponsored adds on facebook? (11/8/2013 3:22:16 PM)

I followed one sponsored link to a consmetic dental web page and now all the sponsored adds are of dental procedures for permanent implants and they're of course pictures of the procedure, and of how thy screw the impant into the jaw bone and yuck. if i wanted to see pics of dental prcedures i'd go seek them out, i don't need them poping up on facebook when i just wanna chat with my friend.

You can't get rid of them all. That's how FB stays open....advertising.

But you can go into your settings and click on "ads" on the left hand side and you can change how they are set up somewhat. That's the best you will get. But there is no way to get rid of them entirely.

Sure you can. I can't even remember the last time I saw an ad on FB. Adblock Plus rocks.

And Facebook Purity has a lot of fun options.

And I suspect those ads are not how they stay in business. It'd be interesting to find out but I'd guess selling our data to everyone else is more profitable.

well yeah there's adblock. As for how they make money...ever see the number of ads on FB? But yeah I'm sure they make money from selling data as well.
