Oh, wait, this entire paper refers to Homo Neanderthalensis not Homo Sapiens. That makes the entire report an issue of poor journalism.

We have neanderthal genes in our bodies, suggesting that the two kinds of human were very close.

My Van Daniken and Velikovsky believing friend thinks that modern man comes from cross breeding the Cro Magnons that crash landed their space ship with the native Neandertals.

Sounds like a good made for SyFy channel movie to me.

How can you put "good" in the same sentence as "made for Syfy channel?"

The finest wool you can get in modern goats/sheep comes from wild Pashmina goats. Also assuming the fibers taken by preagriculture peoples was from animals that were living in a colder world their fur would have been much finer than of contempory wild sheep. Look at the clothing found in bogs and Viking graves, much is of a quality you would pay top dollar for today.

Almost, but not quite. Pashmina wool is secondary in quality to that of Shahtoosh, harvested from chiru.
Chiru are nearly extinct though (because they're hunted and killed for their wool) so Shahtoosh is extremely expensive and illegal.

Shamina (Pashmina wool finer than 13 micrometer and processed the same as Shahtoosh) is a viable, though expensive alternative, that can not be distinguished from Shahtoosh without a microscope. It's not as strong as real Shahtoosh though.

As far as Pashmina harvesting go, today's highest quality wool doesn't come from wild goats anymore, but from goats who have been bred by the Chinese in the Gobi desert with heavy selection for wool fineness.

Chinese Shamina shawls go for anything from $150 to $1500 a piece, depending on size and quality.

(I know waaaaaaay too much about wool...)
