Bashir, being a dick and then, apologizing.

Well, well, well. I don't remember this outrage when Vice Perpetrator Biden invoked a slavery reference. Was Bashir on vacation that month? Typical PPL.

I will say this for the contentious bastard: His apology seemed sincere and he even gave a head fake to contrition.

Said in Yahoo News that it backfired on him and that everyone's stepping on his dick.

According to Yahoo News, MSPMS has not announced any actions against Bashir yet. Not that it really matters. I'm looking for an update that says otherwise, but at the moment it looks like he will get away with an apology that he was forced to read off of his teleprompter to keep his job.

MSPMS has not even pulled the original video, and as far as I can tell, the powers that be at MSPMS have not even made the standard "These comments are the personal opinion of _____________, and do not reflect the views and opinions of this television station" statement. So they do't really seem to be too upset by his comments beyond how it will affect their already dismal ratings.

LMFAOso basically he spoke the truth, until the last few words
Palin, Bashir offered, would be "the outstanding candidate" for "a dose of discipline."
yep hes an ass... but he spoke 90 % truth.

the only person she has apologised to was the pope.... and it was no where near as complete as Bashirs.
poor babies cant take the heat.
Amazing that all the respondents here have said worse. and defended worse by other commentators, and "entertainers" and posters.
Defending that females honour is pointless chaps
Bashir deserves reprimand...for what he said, but the outcry is hysterical
who is the more offensive... depends on your outlook.
Who is the more factual?
heh thats easy

Some people find it offensive that their poor fee-fees were hurted.

I don't know how the network's contracts detail disciplinary action for on-air talent. Bashir should face whatever is appropriate.

Comparing Bashir's comments to Baldwin's isn't a fair comparison, imo.

I don't think Bashir's consequences should include being fired, unless that's what is appropriate and spelled out in his contract.

Interesting, he didn't seem to think he spoke the truth. In fact he said ""My words were wholly unacceptable. They were neither accurate, nor fair," he continued. "They were unworthy of anyone who would claim to have an interest in politics. And they have brought shame upon my friends and colleagues at this network, none of whom were responsible for the things that I said, and at a place where we try every day to elevate political discourse and to focus on issues that matter to all of us.""

but I am sure you know better what he was thinking at the time.

Strange, i read that, i even watched him...lol
I know so many arent used to apologising for stuupid things they have said..even claims of being innacurate or being unfair, are to placate, others.
Calling palin stupid is a matter of dictionary definition, and subjectiveness, his section is called clearing the air......for a reason, im guessing.
You claim i know better what he was thinking?
You must tell me how you do that
Nah on second thoughts
Dont bother, I already know

Well you said he was telling the truth and he said he wasn't. Now I am sure you realized that I really didn't think you knew better than him. I just suggested that is what you implied.

I honestly thought that his apology was sincere; not necessarily that he wanted to, initially.

I am quite sure that this apology was a result of the PMSNBC management letting Bashir hear the branch creek. It seemed to me, though, that once he realized that his job was on the line, he "got in gear" and realized how big this fuck-up was.

the man certainly has a history of being as offensive as possible (starting for me with his love-fest with Michael Jackson, the child molester).

Maybe he's had his "come to Jesus" moment.

But that doesn't change that Basher (He does bash) wasn't this upset when Biden claimed: "They're gonna put y'all back in chains". He didn't seem to have an issue with a slavery reference when it was a dumbocrat that was doing it.

Actually, I think (from what I could find) Baldwin's comments were made on the street?

If that's the case then I think Basher's comments absolutely rise to the level of being fired. He used his "bully pulpit" to assassinate the character of a public figure whereas Baldwin just lost his temper, in a common, every day confrontation.

I'm no fan of Baldwin. He's a PPL POS but, he got angry at a guy that was accosting him on the street? If that rises to the level of losing one's job (and I don't think it does) then Basher should be drawn and quartered by the company because he was representing them (on thier airwaves) at the time.
