ORIGINAL: jlf1961 Today is turning out to be strange, I would go so far as to say weird. At a little after 8 this morning, I got a call from some insurance company associated with AARP. They werent asking for me, although I am a member, they asked for my mother. Without thinking, I replied, "She is not here right now, she is dead, but as soon as she returns I will be sure to have her call you." I got a call asking if I still had the classic car for sale, that I sold five years ago. It seems he had the copy of the classic car trader I had put the ad in, and just saw it, albeit five years too late. And just now, I got a call from some lady who was interested in buying my home and selling me another one, because she was sure that with all the developments going up around this area, I was feeling closed in, and the new apartment complex that went in across the street was making traffic a bother. My nearest neighbor's home is 50 yards away, the nearest subdivision is a mile south of me, the "apartment complex" she was referring to does have about 150 residents, all with one address, but if she would have read the county record she was getting her information from, she would have realized that address is a cemetery. Trust me, if those neighbors start to get really loud and annoying, I will move. But they have been really quiet so far. If your new neighbors do make a fuss, I recommend just one to the head. Anywhere else is a waste of ammo. On a related note, my father (whose name I share), passed in 1982. I'm getting mail for him from all sorts of organizations and businesses that cater to WWII veterans. Most are sincere and just didn't perform the proper checks to make sure the sendee is still breathing. Others are plainly trying to squeeze the last few pennies out of these people while they're still this side of the grave.
