stormiKnightBEAR -> RE: 3rd person speach. Not a rant, a question (11/22/2004 8:09:01 PM)

stormi is sure that someone will correct her if she is wrong... but to the best
of her knowledge/memory the story of O books often had 3rd person speech.
(going to go and check that out tho.. cuz curiousity has stormi wondering now)

Folks all the matters to anyone who is slave or sub is pleasing their Master or Dom.
You wear your hair long... why? Because HE likes it that way.
You do not wear underclothing... why? Because it's what HE wants.
You sleep naked when with Him... why? Because HE expects you to.

IF speaking 3rd person helps keep your focus or brings things back into perspective
(when in this day and time between job, children, obligations, family and any number
of things demand our attention) then who the hell cares what others think?

stormi speaks it alot when it's Master and stormi alone, she is speaking it more and
more because she needs the focus and mindset that it gives her. Call it a security
blanket to some extent. For when stormi speaks 3rd person, either in post or directly
to Master, it's as comforting as hearing His baritone voice say "Miiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnneeeee"
in stormi's ear. Also, remember that Master and stormi do attend when time allows
Gorean functions where it common for the slaves to use 3rd person.

Third person speech is not limited to Gorean. There are many BDSM'ers that want it
as well, it's actually in this girl's opinion not much different than a Dom requiring a sub
use "i" instead of "I"

Sfgrrrl, you said "No, we don't all butcher the english language in our conversations and posts."
While you may deem that you do not ever do anything to butcher the language, the rest of us
might be very comfortable in admitting our shortcomings. Again everyone is entitled to their own
feelings.

Everyone is e n t i t l e d to serve or speak in what ever way it takes for their Master/Dom to
be pleased and to keep them focused on their place or duty without criticism. While there are several
who can attest that stormi does not agree with everything said here, stormi can promise you that
she does truly believe that everyone is entitled to live as they choose to without having to listen to
or read complaints about it. It's about what gives you sync not what others think.

Sub4hire said it best in this post...... if you do not like it, do not read it. It's really that simple.
You know that stormi speaks and writes 3rd person. IF you do not like it do not read stormi's post.

See how easy that is?????

Yes, I did.

How noble. Irrelevent to the discussion at hand, but noble nonetheless. Like you, I'm perfectly comfortable admitting my shortcomings, but that's not what we were discussing. I was simply pointing out the error in Beth's statement. Nothing more, nothing less.

THAT was the whole point. What you were pointing out
had absolutely nothing to do with the topic.

stormi is sure that beth, stormi and all the rest for the
most part wrote exactly what they wanted to say. Who
has the right to correct them??

Done...

the above is an example of your "butchering" of the english language by the use of incomplete sentences in your post.

THAT was the whole point. What you were pointing out had absolutely nothing to do with the topic.

In your indignation, you must have missed the earlier portion of the exchange between Beth and myself:

Beth : the main thing that people seem to not realize is not the how and when it is done, but the why-- to please Master!

Stef : And that's where it begins and ends. No further explanation should be necessary after that point.

I was agreeing with her. I have no problem at all with Merc's decision that Beth speak in whatever manner he chooses, and I wasn't questioning that at all.

When a third party tries to 'correct' how people in a relationship choose to interact, as long as it's not to stop non-consensual abuse? No one has that right.

When they make a sweeping generalization that is patently incorrect? Everyone has that right.

I must admit it has been about 35 years ago that I read 17 of the gor books perhaps some certian character stuck in my mind. Oh well I have no problem with reading them again lol...Mike

To angel who seems to be much like cariad...but here are her words.

Angel speaks in the 3rd person within the 'realtime' perspective and also speaks 1st person. One has learnt that people do tend to feel uncomfortable when hearing the 3rd person conversations and if a person is completely put off by such and it is a person I respect, then I will converse in the way they lead.

So, would'nt role play be doing something not done all of the time? By your own definition. You see, I really had no opinion on this until people started talking about it and I actually read the replies.

An interesting observation sub4hire... Angel has been thinking deeply..and if Angel can try and explain her view ...

When one speaks in first person, she does so because there are, as you have quoted Angel as saying, some "people do tend to feel uncomfortable when hearing the 3rd person conversations"...

If Angel knows someone... respects them... and wishes to serve them, then she will conciously speak in the manner to which they wish. If I have no desire to serve, then Angel is just who she is. With all respects to cariad, Angel does not revert to 1st person just because that person is not lifestyle but does so only in a reaction to her service. If Angel does not wish to serve, then she does not.

As The Great Emperor Merc has stated, its about what the Master/Mistress wants... or what person who is receiving the 'service' wants, to make them pleased... nothing more, nothing less.

Oh and as a P.S.... stormi is fantastic with words isnt she?*smiles*

By this "logic", no one here can correct an erroneous statement unless they own the person making said statement or is a dom? What color is the sky on your planet, Dread?

AandOats -> RE: 3rd person speach. Not a rant, a question (11/23/2004 8:54:42 PM)

Personally, if any person regardless of their status wants to talk in third person, then they can talk in third person. As long as the person is happy, then i'm happy.

Being avidly into ponyplay, ponies have one simply rule, just don't talk! ahhh makes things soo simple. If you need something, make some gestures or noises or wiggles to indicate what you want, no offense to anyone. Yes, i do snort in public, hoof (or foot) stamp (looks like counting) when i get impatient and ambigously shake my head. It's a wonderful way of delivering a message to my dominant saying "hurry up slow poke, we don't want to be late!" or "i've had enough of the summit racing store!" while staying the wonderful submissive beast of burden that i am.

I'm not saying that i don't talk at all, infact that could be farther from the truth, as a pony i don't, but in public i find it a nice way to keep my place and be bossy at the same time!

Thank you for your kind words.

stormi is just a girl who occassionally allows what she
really feels to be seen by others....... this was one of those
times.

Thank You,
