well i've done it again, twice this month at work has something slipped out that was definitely inappropriate...

the first time occurred with a customer. he asked me what lipstick i was wearing and while i meant to say 'my lips are naturally this color' i accidentally said "my nips are naturally this color" ... it was only made worse by the fact he had been flirting with me for days.... sigh

the second time happened tonight. we have a new manager starting tonight and i needed something signed off on... so i found someone i didnt recognize and introduced myself in my normal bubbly way "are you the new manager? good i'm (insert name here) i need a master to sign off on something for me... manager, manager, i need a manager to sign off on something"

now i'm pretty much embarrassment proof(not going to list exceptions) so its pretty easy for me to laugh about it, but it does mess with my ability to keep a low profile. what i was wondering was.....

does this happen to anyone else? or am i completely alone in this regard.... any examples?

I used to run a pool league on yahoo...back in the day.
While hosting one of our Battle of the Sexes tournaments,
instead of saying good luck everyone, I said good fuck everyone.

Look at my handle. It's an ongoing reminder of a Freudian slip. When I signed up, I intended my handle to be "Mister Caneman", from a nickname a former co-worker gave me.

I meant to tell someone that my family is dispersed all over the place, and I said "dissipated" instead.

Not really a slip but true. At a local coffee house, someone was yakking and yakking nonstop in my ear while I was trying to enjoy a nice pint of mocha porter and some live music and he finally said "Why do you do that?". I looked across him at his girlfriend and slowly said "Because...........I'm a sadist" and gave her a meaningful smile.

He grabbed her and left which is what I wanted in the first place.

<plays with Lucy's Freudian slit>

It only happens to the OP, the rest of us are better than that.

it makes things more fun in my opinion, luckily i naturally have such a demeanor that everyone assumes i'm joking anyways so all except for first meetings tends to not be awkward... the part time job where this keeps happening requires a lot of preprogrammed mantra when speaking with customers... something about having a piece of paper telling you everything to say to someone makes it happen more.... my rebellious side i guess, i mean i accidentally called my boss master but masters ive had would try for months to get me to say that with the response usually being "ehhh close enough" when i'd say sir instead.

the one time i ever had to be in court i practiced for a week saying "your honor" in my head repeatedly still slipped a "sir um i mean your honor" in there.... they thought it was cute though, i got a few chuckles and ahhh's and didnt get in trouble and saved the smirk and maniacal laughter until almost completely out the door.(i was trying to look uber polite since i was there for a park ranger giving me a ticket just because he felt drunk me disrespected him... so i laid it on a little thick)

I won't hold you accountable but....I'm thinking that's easily worth 5 bucks.

I'd have given you a raise.

I;ve had a few Freudian slips myself. Then there was the time I accidentally let slip my fetishes to my parents. That was a bit awkward.
