Video: Cool cops' witty banter with cheeky van driver becomes internet hit

THE clip shows a van driver who has been pulled over by police who suspect him of using a mobile phone while driving.

Ok If you read the article and listen or watch the video...This cop has the patience of a saint.
If you cant understand the accent, the article gives a short synopsis.
Love the glaswegians!

I've seen videos like this. The guy could have been on his way within five minutes without being a total asshole. When you start playing games, its fair for the officer to wonder 'ok, what's REALLY going on with this character'? There are videos of the person being within the right of the law and the police are out of line. But this video clearly shows the police were doing their job. And had much in the way of patience to show for it.

TheHeretic -> RE: Cool cops patience (11/23/2013 9:46:31 AM)

I started watching the video, Lucy, but it just reminds me too much of work. From what I saw, if the cop spoke English, he might have the makings of an intern.

"... But this video clearly shows the police were doing their job. .."

They are not doing their job. They are idiots wasting time, harassing motorists. Truthfully, if it happened in the US we would see total assholes in action.

I dont feel that people using a cell phone while driving to be a waste of time, the law is there for a reason, however, I cannot deny that 19 minutes of banter, was excessive for 99% of resisting arrest cases:)

The police were doing their job just fine. You do not like police, and so take the most negative view of the situation. They stated why they stopped him, and explained why it was a violation. When they started the procedure to obtain all the legal information to issue a ticket (I believe that is what they were doing), the guy was more evasive than Sarah Palin being caught in a lie! The more you behave like a dick, the less likely you'll get away with just an unwritten warning. And the more likely you'll be stopped for a longer period of time by that police officer as they go through everything by the book.

"John, son of David" Who the hell says that in 2013? Even in Europe? I could understand back a few hundred years ago. "What is the name you signed when you got a DRIVER's LISCENSE?" When he cant answer that, its fair to wonder who is the guy for real and WHY is he being evasive? Here in the states, that would be probable cause to search the vehicle.

Joether, look at your Driver's License. I bet you do not see anything abnormal about it.

(hint: look at how you signed and how the Government spelled your name)

No, they were doing their job.

It's illegal here to drive whilst using a cell phone.
It carries a £80 ($120) instant fine and possibly 6 points on your license.
And if the police thought you were driving erratically when they stopped you, that carries a much heavier fine and a charge of driving without due care.

They were doing their job and the offender was being evasive. Simples!

Is it possible for a donkey to survive on asphalt? Yes, but you need to dress him in police uniform.

I am surprised the Brits love their bondage. They are extracting wealth out of you fools. Of course, you should be watched 24/7 by the "authorities". An expression of the drivers face should be specified and strictly enforced.

who what now?

I LOOOOOOVE this GUY!!!! (the driver).

Lucylastic -> RE: Cool cops patience (11/24/2013 5:29:21 PM)

he reminds me of my ex.... anti establishment, could argue the knickers off a nun and leave you laughing, even when you wanted to be mad as hell.

Wendel27 -> RE: Cool cops patience (11/25/2013 3:58:08 AM)

Having experience of being the officer as opposed to the driver I would hazard a guess that the driver has been influence by Freemen of the Land concepts. A ghastly composite of wishful thinking and barrack room law. In essence they do not recognise statute law as having any authority and only common Law has any standing [though they mange to butcher that concept equally]. It would be more amusing if so many people weren't taken in and end up in extremely serious trouble due to youtube videos convincing them that they can break certain laws they dislike and then get away with it by ''standing up for their rights''.

'' They are extracting wealth out of you fools.''  Indeed they are as if you are using a mobile phone whilst driving you are certainly a fool and a monetary pnealty is a light consequence of such an irresponsible action.

How I signed my name and how the government spelled my name is the same thing. That's why the Government has a 'checks and balances' system where as you PRINT your name and the person entering the info CHECKS it with you, character by character to verify all information is correctly entered. Not my fault this guy was a moron when dealing with a government document.....
