bishop depending on where W/we are uses anything from Mistress to Honey.
In public places I prefer the Honey so as to not draw attention.I tend to call her punk in public.
If any males go out in public with Me they call Me Ma'am.

In the dungeon its Mistress always.

Heavens, no apology necessary at all!  I was being goofy when I wrote that first post, and cracking myself up!  I'm glad you also laughed.  I just wanted to be clear to the OP that I wasn't coming from a place of ridiculing, just being silly is all.

It's all good.  [:)]

I personally am fond of the term "milady" or "my lady"  in public and Mistress when it is private or within the walls of our home.

I enjoy milady or my lady because it denotes that the speaker is talking to a Lady of Quality and was origionally used in (as previously stated) the Victorian era and was  historically the way that servants spoke to nobility    Concidering that many Female Dominants (including myself)  like the terms Goddess or Queen, milady or my lady feels . . . honorific.

MY slaves are required to us "The Master I serve" or "The Master who's collar I wear" or "The Master that who owns my heart."

Any thoughts from some one else?

Doms like to feel cherished and desired and part of someones life just ilke subs do.  So hearing someone say "mine" can be quite yummy and validating for them.

Secondly, saying "my master" is just short hand for "the master I am a slave towards."

Thirdly, there's dozens of ways to get around this IF the dom wants- I used to call my ex "the owner" when referring to him to other people.  If a dom doesn't want the slave using that sort of shorthand, obviously he will instruct his slave to do something else.

Otherwise, it must work fine for them.

There are plenty of cases where your snippet of definition doesn't apply to to your model:

my neighbor
my street
my boss
my church... and many more.

None of the above denote any ownership, but instead show some manner of association or connection. I suggest upgrading to a dictionary with more complete definitions (Merriam-Webster's Unabridged is a good one).

~stef

That is the problem with definitions... they have multiple meanings or inferences and one needs to consider which definition is applicable in any particular instance.   The definition of "My" can refers to Either; "Ownership of"or "Association of" .   When I state  My girls (referring to alandra and kyra), it reflects Ownership as well as my association to them.  However, when they address me has "My Lord" it reflects their association to me and more specifically what that association is.  My bottom denika reflects an association between her and I, just as she states My Top reflects the same.

denika -> RE: How does a slave address you (5/29/2006 3:01:10 PM)

For the longest time I had a hard time calling anyone Sir or Ma'am with it meaning something. In my job I use that title on strangers to try and get  their attention, a polite title when I don't know their name. Calling Rob Sir just made me giggle my ass off *s* still does[:)]

It wasn't until I put respect behind the title as well as the relationship to the person that the word meant something more than a simple prefix..
Each title/name is going to mean something diffrent to the individual..

Skuggi -> RE: How does a slave address you (5/29/2006 7:44:59 PM)

My subs address me as Skuggi (Shadow).

I would punish them if they addressed me as Master or anything else.

I'm Skuggi and they are to respect that.

Eir -> RE: How does a slave address you (5/29/2006 7:53:16 PM)

Skuggi, ... I just a friend talk about you as Skuggi but not your given name VERY often, I have to think befor saying :o

Skuggi -> RE: How does a slave address you (5/29/2006 7:56:40 PM)

Yes people who know me in the scene always call me Skuggi since that is my preferred name :-)

And that is the only name given to the scene unless people know me REALLY well :-)

denika -> RE: How does a slave address you (5/29/2006 9:10:43 PM)

kali8girl -> RE: How does a slave address you (6/1/2006 12:16:53 AM)

This girl was taught.....NEVER to say "MY"..  i do not OWN a Master.  i was taught....  " the MASTER who Owns me"
To add those very few extra words to the sentence, shows respect.  It also shows That the MASTER who OWNS her,, had taken the time to teach/train HIS property correctly. If one is lazy or sloppy with spoken words, whats next to slip?

My Dom. MINE. And I don't share.

In my (admittedly limited) experience, subs are way more fiercely territorial than their Doms/Masters.

*sarcastic remark deleated*[sm=flying.gif]

i have to totally agree here, i am very territorial when it comes to Master.  He has never told me how i was to address Him, when He and i held Oour collaring ceremony, He named me peasant, and i called Him Master.  Master asked that i choose a name for Him that was respectful, and denoted where He stood in my life.  Master owns me mind, body, and soul.  i spoke with Master in reference to Your post as this was not a topic prior to Your post that Wwe had ever discussed.  Master and i both see Your point and think that Your's is valid.  Your preference is for You to have Your's say..."He who owns me" that is respectable and Your right. ( i say that with the utmost respect.) This topic led to a very indepth conversation between Master and i.  it is rare that i state "my Master"  however it is not due to the reason that You have stated in Your original post.  It is simply due to that is the way that i began speaking in reference to Master.  However, there are times that i have refered to Him as "my Master"  this is not used by me as a term of my owning Master, it is a term used very much like the way that You state.."He who owns me"  however, normally when i use the phrase, i am speaking to someone who is lifestyle friendly and i am speaking quickly so that i can move on. Master and i both agree that this is point that has to be agreed on between the parties involved.

respectfully,
Master John's peasant
