I knew they were killing off someone. I had hoped it would be Meg. Not because I dislike the actress, but because of the way they constantly abuse her. It irritates me.
But, when they killed Brian.. I was VERY OK with that choice. That dog was obnoxious.

I doubt Brian will remain dead - I'm betting Stewie will build a new time machine and put things right. They killed Lois once but she came back. Stewie, too. Oh wait - that was all just a computer simulation.

I had expected it to be Meg because I assumed Ms. Kunis was looking to move on to bigger & better things. She's actually one of my favorite characters because of the contrast between the actress and the character.

I can't believe it's permanent. Brian, not Peter, was the heart of the show.

My guess (and it is just a guess): Seth will play with heads our for a few episodes during which Vinnie will be revealed as a dangerous mobster (Vinnie is obviously Italian and Seth loves using stereotypes)...

or...

Vinnie will be caught humping Rupert (remember what happened to the other dog who humped Rupert).

Either way, Stewie will rebuild the time machine and Brian will be back!

Fox posted RIP Brian pictures on face book.

Right now I am recruiting a small army (20000 or so) to invade Seth McFarland's home in order to "persuade" him to resurrect Brian. I figure we make him watch non stop Russian Reality TV, with Hindu subtitles until he breaks.

As dumb as it is to say, I was disappointed to hear the news that they offed Brian. I've read a few articles about how the show felt that was a better "shake up" than creating the demise of one of the two legged characters. I haven't watched the episode, but I'll bet I'll be cursing Seth under My breath, even if it is some kind of twisted mind fuck.

He will be back. Its not like no one ever died on that show. I was watching a rerun tonight and Brian and Stewie both were at the pearly gates.

I am actually impressed. It takes some balls to kill off a main character. Problem is that Family Guy, while it will take on real issues like spouse abuse and suicide, can't stay serious, ever. So yeah, Brian may hop in occasionally, or they'll have a big episode bringing him back in a year or a few years, or they'll keep him dead, Firefly style. My money is on a big season show and a two parter of some kind. Good for ratings.

TV shows generally don't change much. Main characters do their thing, come out ok, next episode. A few shows do change that up and it can be interesting to see done.

That would sadly be Family Guy's MO. . . However they did kill off Muriel and a few other characters in that Murder Mystery thing and they stayed dead. They even had long periods where Cleveland was gone when they gave him another show. Eesh, I still follow the dang show even when I don't care. . .heh
