Happy almost-Thanksgiving, everyone. I thought it might help ring in the most lovely NON-COMMERCIALIZED holiday by posting what makes you thankful this year.

For me:

That Huck's on the way for a few days with me here, he's bringing crab, and we have lots of fun stuff planned
That my kitties are content and safe
That everyone close to me is either healthy or their health's improving (myself included on the last)
That I live comfortably in my beautiful, warm coastal paradise
That I want for nothing right now except World Peace (and glad that it begins at home)

Tons more, but now I'll turn the mic over to you...

I am thankful that Gary and I are able to share yet another Thanksgiving together.
I am thankful that he took his daughters' advice and stopped driving the motor home from Montana to Arizona and back again.
I am thankful that Gary let me realize a dream I've had for nearly 40 years and let me get chickens that lay green eggs. I am also thankful to have found a good friend to take care of the chickens until we get back to Montana in the spring.
I am thankful for the turkey in the oven and the friends who will share our meal tomorrow.

Yes, I am crazy about feathered creatures. I have a dozen chickens, 3 ducks, 5 geese, and 2 parakeets.

Revise that number. Just got 14 new chicks and 5 turkeys.

With me it's the same every year when asked what I'm thankful for; "Freedom."
Without that where would any of us be?
And I salute the brave men and women in our armed forces.

I'm thankful that MP and I get to spend the holiday together. There were a few years in there that we were not.

I'm thankful for My children and My grandchildren.

I'm thankful for the new person in My life who has this habit of making Me smile.

I'm thankful that I was able to overcome certain obstacles that have presented themselves in the past several months.

I'm thankful for My kink friends and leather family from so many places across the country.

I'm thankful that, next Thanksgiving, I'll be back in the lower 48.

I'm thankful for the knowledge that I could have written scores and scores of thing here and each piece of the puzzle adds up to the happiness that I have for Me.

I have been pondering this for a few days.

It's been a rough year for me and, on the surface, there's very little to be thankful for ... sort of.

I lost my son, lost my job, lost my place to live (not "lost" but the landlord sold to a piece of shit so I had to leave), lost a car, lost my computer, lost my direction and lost my focus.

I am very thankful that I was born where I was born, when I was born. I am thankful that I was born, at all.

I am thankful that I was born fortunate enough to not have a learning disability or other impediment.

I am thankful that I am able to help others and to provide some comfort.

I'm thankful that while I haven't "changed the world", I've managed to make a little bit of (positive) difference.

Can I play even though I'm in England? Not in order of significance!

-I'm thankful that my child is healthy and loved, and gets to grow up in a country where she is guaranteed an education and medical care, even if we lost every penny we have.
-I'm thankful that we now have a car which isn't likely to give up the ghost in winter
-I'm thankful for lactase pills which mean I can still eat milk chocolate and pumpkin pie
-I'm thankful for my small but wonderfully supportive circle of family and friends
-I'm thankful that my friend is in full remission
-I'm thankful for indoor plumbing, shampoo, digital cameras, the internet, central heating, underwired bras, ballpoint pens, dishwashers, and about a million other conveniences that great-granny didn't have at my age

I keep thinking of more but that's probably enough. Thanks, universe, god, fate, random chance, whatever.

I'm thankful to have felt the love of people who have chosen me to be part of their family.

I am thankful that I finally have a therapist who I can work with and trust to be on my side.

Finally, I am thankful that for the first time in a long time, I'm glad to still be on this earth.
