Turkey, popovers, stuffing, cranberry sauce, all those lovely things!
I'm with my parents and all for grandparents, and all my aunts and uncles.

I hope everyone is having or had a wonderful holiday (or holidays as the case may be)!

As some may recall, several months ago, I had to cut my son out of my life because of his behavior towards me. Also, the last Thanksgiving and Christmas with my father, he was dying (after which, these holidays have ALWAYS been difficult for this daddy's girl). My mom didn't pass at this time of year, but she is passed all the same, as is my Nana. In other words, every vital person in my family is dead or might as well be.

I had been regretfully coming to terms with the fact that I would be all alone today and it would just be another day. However, I got a call from my dear friend (pseudo long lost sister), and she informed me that I would NOT be alone, her fiance was picking me up because "family" belongs together during the holidays, and everyone in her house considers me family.

It reminded me what I was told by several when the incident with my son first happened and I was dreadfully upset. I received so much support from everyone here, especially Jeff in Texas, that family isn't about blood relations, but the love the people have for each other.

So I am incredibly grateful to have spent the holiday with my "family" and feeling the love we have for each other.

Dinner was all the regular stuff you have for Thanksgiving. We had turkey, ham, yams, corn, mashed potatoes, gravy, etc. We ate at the clubhouse here with about 50 other people who live in this RV park. Ended up sitting across from some people from our state who just moved here 3 weeks ago like we did.

I also cooked a turkey so we can have all the lovely leftovers.

Yes, I am crazy about feathered creatures. I have a dozen chickens, 3 ducks, 5 geese, and 2 parakeets.

Revise that number. Just got 14 new chicks and 5 turkeys.

Dinner was turkey breast and a ham, stuffing, mashed taters, home made gravy, green beans, lima beans (yuck) pumpkin pie, crescent rolls.

Family and niece's boyfriend, and the dogs, who also got thanks giving dinner including Lima beans.

We went low-rent this year. Thanks to an ambiguous schedule for my DGF, we ended up hitting the buffet. Pretty good, actually. Turkey breast, regular and sweet potatoes, the usual spread of vegetables, and quite possibly one of the best corn-bread stuffings I've ever had. It also was her birthday, and for her present, I paid for a season's worth of snowplowing (those in the Lower Lakes/Northeast knows that's better than flowers and chocolate). Positively stuffed for around thirty bucks, we went on a sleigh ride (our euphemism for driving in the snow), stopped at a new tavern, and they promptly gave us half a dozen cupcakes, whether we wanted them or not. All in all, a good day. Hope everyone else had a good one as well.

I had a nice relaxing day..just my husband/Master and my grown daughter. I cooked a small turkey. 13 lb.( I usually cook a 20+ turkey.)
I stuffed it with a traditional "yankee" stuffing. I made cornnbread dressing for Him.
I made 2 pumpkin pies and one apple pie from scratch. Green Bean casserole and mashed potatoes.
Gravey..rolls...put together 1/2 the leftovers for His parents who are having health issues..delivered.
Came home...enjoyed a glass of wine with daughter and Husband. I didn't over do..make too much..
It was a great day! :)

we had chicken and sausage gumbo, cornbread dressing, deviled eggs, & homemade blueberry banana cream pie.

It was me and my mom, who also turned 87 today. Will go have dinner with my brother and his family tomorrow.

Hope everyone here had a good day.

Well...a co-worker called my traditional bread stuffing "yankee" ..lol
Probably because it wasn't rice or cornbread based.

We made it to my cousin's house and had turkey, cornbread dressing (my sister made it and it was delicious!), sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, whole wheat dinner rolls, creamy green beans with bacon, gravy, and pie... pumpkin and mixed berry. I was a little sad that there wasn't any pecan pie as that is my favorite, but I survived.. I got to see a few of my other cousins and my cousin's ex hubby (they are still friends). My sister, her husband, and the kids were there and we also took the dog. It was a great day and I really enjoyed it.

As usual, I made too much food. Even My toned down version seems to be too much for one table.

Who was I with was the better question. My heart is pretty full this year.

I hope all of you had a wonderful holiday.
