I've realised that some words and phrases work better than others and this has developed and been modified over the years. What works for you?

Sir, would you mind lifting this heavy object for me, please? <-- works real well here.

I've always gone with "alley....UP!"

I think it's what my dad used to say...but it seems to have the required lifting magic

When I recently moved my stuff out of a storage container to store it at my parents house as well as at my darlings home, I realised that I developed the habbit of saying out slowly (towards the end of lifting and right afterwards): Ohhh-keyyy...

Now...my partner is doing the most unmotivated face during such moments and lemme tell you...that wasn't working for him

FR

I know a builder who actually argues with the object he's trying to lift or move. He lives in the house next door to a friend of mine. Once, when he was on the roof of an extension he was building into his garden, I honestly thought he was about to get into a fight with another man who was up there with him. "Oh, you bastard", he was saying. "You treacherous *git*. You fucking would have to be like that, *wouldn't* you? Every time. Every *bloody* time you do this to me [Etc., etc]". It turned out he was addressing his pickaxe.

Turn to the weight training 20 year old. "Hey, can I borrow you for a moment?". Works every time.

Actually, what kind of object are we talking about here?

Just heavy, heavy and bulky, just bulky, living, inanimate, corpse, what?

"Son of BITCH that's heavy. Ok son, on three"
"My three?"
"No mine, I count"
"Lift on three or after three"
" just lift when I say three"

Haha!
(No I don't have a son. That's a southern thing for when shit is serious)
