Status: offline 		My 8 year old has wanted a Barbie dream house for a year or so. Last year she begged for one but between having the house treated for termites, then the sewer line needed to be dug up and replaced, dear husbands car blew up on the way home, then a new baby was on the way made Christmas a little tight. This year we had the money for it so we got it. The box took an entire roll of wrapping paper to get it all wrapped. We walked it out and she started screaming at instantly asked if it was a Barbie dream house. Ha I accidentally let it slip that she got an umbrella table and she believed me. She is walking around all proud of herself thinking I slipped up and told her she got a table for Christmas. I can't wait for Christmas morning when she sees it is not a table, she is going to scream. I can't wait!!

I smiled so hard at this. I don't have children but I've been around enough to know, it's times like those, that make me regret my childless state ( for a moment ).

Status: offline 		:) It was so hard to make myself look horrified that I slipped and not laugh. She was laughing and jumping up and down while saying ummmm you slipped and told me my present. I coughed a couple of times to cover up for that almost giggle as I looked at her horrified and said Don't tell dad I slipped up ok. Oh my lands he already knows I fed her a false story to get her mind off of the dream house,

Wow. She is going to be just blown away after waiting more than a year.

I bet you're as excited for Christmas day as she is.

Status: offline 		She is a sweet girl. She wanted one so bad last year, she begged us and told 3 Santas all she wanted was a Barbie dream house. I told her several times that I was sorry but it just was not going to happen. I was so worried about Christmas morning being sad for her when she saw that she did not get it. She ended up being thrilled at the Barbie stuff we did get her and never brought up that she didn't get it.
I am excited. I am not sure who is more impatient for Christmas morning :)

Status: offline 		Very cool. You have to promise to update the thread after she sees what it really is on Christmas morning.

My kids are grown (I have Grands, now) but I remember all of those years of running around, shopping to find that one special thing, and somehow managing to find it or afford it by Christmas morning. Plenty of years, Santa got all of the credit, but I still got the better end of the deal.

Status: offline 		I would love to see her reaction! Kids are so funny Christmas morning! My little cousins and I would be up at the crack of dawn and scream so loud we'd wake our patents up. We would all be at my mamaws. Great times. I'm sure your love bug will scream like we did!!

Status: offline 		When I was a kid eons ago, my parents bought me a huge pedal car done like a police car with the blue light and a giant bell.
It must have cost a mortgage in those days as it was metal - none of that plastic crap.
But I can remember unwrapping it and spent at least a week or more playing in the box it came in!!
I bet my parents cried in secret; that a cardboard box held my attention for soo long instead of the expensive present they'd splashed out on.
But I loved my pedal car. Had it for years until I was too big for it.

Xmas is a weird time of year.

I decided to get 2 presents, one as a housewarming gift (a shark oven mitt, she is into sharks) and a make up kit that I found on ebay (her cousin got one as well). I want to find a cheek gem with her birthstone (she has an emerald one) for her birthday (February). Mom sent her $20 so she will go watch The Hobbit today.
