At 22:00 hours, 16 Dec 2013, the plan was hatched.

It was an elaborate plan, full of misdirection, subterfuge and pure unadulterated desire to drive one poor individual (me) insane. (Ok, further into the grips of insanity)

Here is how the plan worked.

2130 hrs, Daddy decides that it is time for him to go to bed.
2215 hrs, All canines, now agreeing on a plan of action, beg to be let out for the last time of the day. Note that this is a good hour before their usual requests for the final romp outside.
2245 hrs, Kera, Blu and Lil Red whine at daddy's door to be let in to go to bed with daddy.
2246 hrs Three dogs find their own spots on daddy's bed to lay down, thus giving daddy a false belief that nothing is up.
0330 hrs Kera begins the morning wanting attention from daddy, particularly her belly scratched.
0400 hrs Three dogs make it clear they just have to go outside.
0430 hrs Kera telepathically sends signal to the rest of the pack that daddy is now up and trying to drink his coffee.
0431 hrs 8 dogs, now awake behave in such a manner as to threaten to waken sleeping toddler who is probably in on the plan anyway, by running through the house at break neck speeds.
0435 hrs, Kera, Red, Blu, Bear tear through the house on the way to mommy's room, knocking daddy over and causing him to spill his first cup of coffee.
0436 hrs -0531 hrs repeated laps from back door to mommy's room with the necessary accompaniment of yips, yaps, and other vocalizations and bounces on mommy's bed to make sure she is awake.
0533 hrs Realizing that Mommy could sleep through a tornado, earthquake, hurricane and asteroid impact all happening simultaneously while being bounced by canines of various sizes, it is decided to kick back and relax.

Call me paranoid, but this morning's activity clearly indicates that there is a plan that is being carried out. Who the hell cares if the NSA is spying on me? I am the subject of a sleep and caffeine deprivation experiment.

Got the lovely electrodes attached to your head? That is the only way we can tell. Usually the devil's nurses get me up at 5:30 after a sleep study.

This all proves jlf that the NSA as with me...were bored a long time ago in the recognition that we have neither the time, energy or inclination...for any conspiracy.

We are far too busy battling the natural domestic forces at home. Like sitting here watching NatGeo about deer DNA found in the blood of 'birds' that hit a plane. Only at Christmas time you understand.

Do your dogs get sufficient structured exercise during the day? Mom and I both had working dog breeds that had behavior issues when they were not exercised enough, which generally equaled walking a few miles over the course of the day plus Dog Park for the Husky.

Yes, we have them running, playing and I take the two hybrids on walks with me daily.

If Kera goes out for the last time at 12 or even 1130, she will actually sleep until 6AM. If she goes out before 11, then the best thing we can do is not let her go down for the night until after 12.

We keep Kera, Blu, lil Red and Bear in my room at one end of the house at night, and the rest at the other end of the house. We have a gate between the two sections.

For the first 15 or 20 minutes they are up and active the ones I have with me are content to amuse themselves, which includes playing under my sister's window, which wakes the other dogs who eventually want to join the fun.

At which point, the house becomes a race track and the day is started.

If I'm not up by 6:15, the brat lab will sit close, stare at me, and whine very quietly until I open my eyes. If I growl at him, he will go lay down for the same 8 minutes the snooze button gives me, then repeat the process.

It has nothing to do with needing to go outside. He just wants my side of the bed.

Thanks for the early morning laugh,.

Strangely enough, the nights that I have a really bad time sleeping, they are really well behaved.

But to be honest, I would not trade these dogs for anything.
