Since other people have already explained where you took a wrong turn and everything went pear-shaped, the best advice I can give you is to take yourself over to FetLife.com and join my group, Kinky Kansas City. I realize that sounds like a shameless plug, but most of the local groups post event notices there. You'll have no trouble finding information about upcoming munches, play parties, and other events.

From there, you can join the discussion forums for any of the local kink groups that strike your fancy. AHS is the oldest and largest group while Consent KC is the smallest but the most active. Meeting and getting to know people in person is going to be way more beneficial for you than searching online if you want to meet someone local. Not that CM isn't a great place to find partners, but KC people tend to be more interested in socializing offline.

Otherwise, hang around the CM forums, take part in discussions, and let people get to know you. There are a lot of people who have become friends/lovers with someone they met here. I've met and played with at least four people I met through CM, including my last sub. Just remember to lead with your awesome personality rather than your kink and you'll do fine.
