It claims Robertson didnt actually equate being gay is linked to bestiality, he sure as hell meant it leads to it though. It seems to me if anyone needs to read what was actually said, then its you.

Utter bullshit. Here's what he said.

quote:

“Everything is blurred on what’s right and what’s wrong,” he says. “Sin becomes fine.”

What, in your mind, is sinful?

Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men,” he says. Then he paraphrases Corinthians: “Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers—they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.”

He is not saying that homosexuality leads to bestiality any more than he is saying it leads to heterosexual promiscuity.
He is expressing two pretty standard bits of Protestant theology: sin is sin, and homosexual acts are sins.
There is neither causality nor progression in his statements.

Uh, except for more accepting statements from the new Pope, where exactly has the Catholic church has said that homosexuality is not a sin? The bible is pretty cut and dried on the subject.

Before you put words in my mouth, read this first.

Ah, you of course know what morph means and what part of speech it plays in the sentence.

I see that English is not your first, nor is it any of your languages, however, it is vermiformous the language you so brazenly use for promulgating lies.

Hmmmmmmmm

I was replying to impolitesub; and I don't think I even put words in his mouth.
I used the word "Protestant" because of my ignorance of Catholicism. (Specifically, isn't there something of a heirarchy of sins in Catholicism?)
I just thought I was on firmer ground characterizing his statements as Protestant- no disrespect intended at all.

Phil Robertson is free to speak his religious beliefs, but do you really think that African Americans were better off before the Civil Rights laws were passed?

well as a matter of fact before the 13th amendment black's unemployment rate in the south was 0%... how is it now?

truckinslave -> RE: Free speech? (12/23/2013 3:16:44 PM)

I'm not sure overall, but I do know that it's worse under 0bama0 than under Bush.

Am I to understand you wish to repeal the civil rights laws, reinstate the jim crow laws, segregate whites from non whites and return the non whites to a share cropper existence?

there is somehow, but it's trivial, as god forgives every sin with no limitation you repent, confess and do your penitence.

it was sarcasm, I thought it was absurde enough to be obvious, I answered your rehtorical question with a fallacy, but meaning that even if looking you could find some small aspect that a modern mind would consider better the whole picture could be horrible.
Like in the mandela thread when someone pointed out after apartheid crime rates raised... well if you forget apartheid was a crime maybe it's true.

I have no problem with Phil Roberson stating his religious beliefs, he said nothing that was not in the bible, so how can you complain, unless you want to rewrite both old and new testaments of the bible.

There are plenty of positions that those of us who aren't bigots for Jesus can take to justify our moral condemnation of those who are bigots for Jesus.

I'm a just because it's in a book doesn't make it true kind of guy myself but there are plenty of other immensely valid justifications for complaining. The reality is that the majority of our society views homosexuality as moral and is in favor of gay rights:
http://www.gallup.com/poll/1651/gay-lesbian-rights.aspx

We've reached a point where one risks offending the majority of society by being a bigot for Jesus and offending the majority of society has social consequences.

jlf1961 -> RE: Free speech? (12/23/2013 4:01:24 PM)

Sorry, my grouchiness, fuck it, anger level has been through the roof after dealing with people in public today. I am usually a very calm person, actually pride myself on the fact that my short temper is mostly a thing of the past, but today, after 20 minutes in walmart, I lost it and told a pair of women to quit blocking the aisle to gossip and get the fuck out of the way. Actually used a more colorful language than just fuck, I do believe that anybody that has gone through boot camp at Fort Benning would recognize the language as pissed off Sargent.

My sentiments exactly!
Of course the Anal - Retentives think it's a "crime" to,..."offend" someone.
But, they have no problem calling someone who disagrees with them a racist or a bigot.
So, they believe in "free speech" too, just as long as you agree with them.

Dear oh dear, I have never called you a racist for disagreeing with me, just for posting racist posts.

Thompson, you know everything, wasn't it the 14 th amendment that gave "full citizenship" to the freed slaves and not the 13th?
