One is an entire subsection on people refusing to identify themselves to the cops; that involve people filming cops who ask for identification and then refusing to give identification.

On the one hand: Yes they are within their rights to refuse identification when the officer has no probable cause to detain them.

On the other hand: I am reminded of Niven's laws.

1) Never throw shit at an armed man.
2) Never stand next to someone who is throwing shit at an armed man.

The other thing I found was "The Tribal Update." It's kind gf like "The Weekend Update" on SNL but it's half in Hebrew and half in English; mostly. Some parts are in Yiddish. It's got more than a few Jewish in-jokes so don't expect to fully understand it unless you are Jewish. As can be expected, Hamas does not come off well.

are you talking about TSA stops? I have seen those.. the crud that do this kinda job just keep hammering to break people down into meekly complying... I expect that those stops will be expanding to all other states in due course..

Not quite. It's people who openly carry and then film cops who don't know the laws of the state they are supposed to be protecting.

Eventually, you will find that most cops in most states haven't got the first clue about the laws they are supposed to enforce. And forget the Bill of Rights. Cops are on a mission from God himself. Just like the Crusaders.

I don't have to wait for that. I learned it a long time ago. Partially it's having too many laws in place that reference other laws or outright contradict them. Partially it's officers who mistake what they hear on television as actual laws. And partially it's cops who think that the badge and the gun make them not citizens but something else entirely - Google for "Militarization of the Police" if you want a more in depth discussion of that little gem.

I loved the Tribal Update. I have to remember to ask my right wing Israeli cousin about it. Just to see her fume.

Don't cops learn legal precedent the same way most of us do? i.e. prime time television.

I laughed like crazy at the clueless on one job I worked in Illinois. Almost all of the <30 crowd that didn't own firearms themselves thought it was mandatory to register any firearm you owned. Nope, only if you live in television land or a small minority of fascist states.

Firearm registration is one of the most useless, and clueless of laws on the books.
