RozzyGoesMew -> Collar Care (help and advice) (12/22/2013 7:10:54 PM)

Okay... So I still have my first collar my Master gave me. I wear it almost all the time- I don't take a shower with it. But I treasure it a lot...but the thing is..I wear it so much and sweat in it I'm unsure what's the best inexpensive way t o take care of it and wash it and possibly remove the "wet dog" smell. Any advice? I heard to just wash it in warm water or use an old tooth brush with some Arm and Hammer should do that trick. Curious what other ways I can do it without spending too much money...

I also seek collar alternatives...to flaunt in public and possible work places that is meaningful but not Blatantly obvious..

Lexol leather conditioner

When I was showing horses, we did not use Lexol. It was known for eating the stitching out of the leather.

We used Murphy's Oil soap, the paste preferably, but the liquid will work.

best thing is to go to eternity collars and you can get one that is appropriate for 24/7 wear even in the shower as far as alternatives that you can look into.

the best public ones could be like i suggested from eternity collars or even vlad farkas, but watch the people around you with that type of collar because you never know when a random person that happens to be lifestyle notices and might even quietly come over to you and comment.

if you want something that no one would know even lifestylers then a necklace of some sort that is significant to both of you would work.

hope this helps you.

Since my work would frown upon an eternity collar, i have small charm that I wear with a necklace that my daughter gave me. So it looks like two charms on a necklace but it acts as a collar for me.

Familiar with and use Murphy's. Never heard that about Lexol before. I'll look into that, thanks.

Clean with saddle soap. Condition with Hubbards shoe grease? Ask an experienced bootblack. They will know for sure. I'm just a newb to leather care.

Your collar can be anything you choose. Doesn't even have to be worn around the neck. Can be a bracelet or anklet.
