It doesn't. Let me 'splain. The birthers were idiots provided with media attention and exposure far beyond their numbers or relevance. They never had a point, or a leg to stand on, and their only illusion of credibility, at any time, was a result of the media fixation on them. Strawman by proxy. Find the biggest idiot in the room, stick all the cameras and microphones in his face, and pretend he's the norm.

I can think of all sorts of reasons to not be interested in Senator Cruz trying to occupy a political office with a prohibition on naturalized citizenship, without looking to the circumstances of his birth, exactly as I had plenty of reasons to think candidate Obama was wholly unqualified for the position he ultimately obtained, none of which involved Kenya.

I'd like to thank the OP.

I'm finding this thread quite useful for sorting out which pigeons go in which holes... birther, gullible, and so forth.

Generally I don't have high expectations of the looney Right. But even by those generously low standards, bringing up this long-dead-and-buried issue gets a 'Fail".

Guys, you are too late. Way too late. At least 6 years late. The time to question Obama's qualifications was before he got elected, not after he has been in the White House for 6 years.

The only things revealed by your obsessive exhumation of this issue are just how far removed from day- to-day reality your political focus is, and how ill-informed and misdirected the 'thoughts' of the looney Right truly are.

Anyone that knows anything about Adobe knows that you can take cut and pastes and superimpose these over the actual fields in the adobe document. And this is what had been done in his 'supposed' document. It was not only fake - it was a fake that was so incompetent I don't know how to explain it. I still don't.

I am actually an expert on photoshop and on scanning documents. the random layers you see in the BC are artifacts of being scanned not of photoshop manipulation.
http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/birthers/birthcertificate.asp

The document that was possible to download from the website, which I did, did not have "random layers" when opened in illustrator.

When opened in Adobe Acrobat Professional, there are fields into which data is entered. Superimposed over some of these fields, were other fields with different values.

Personally, I think the document was just meant to be viewed in hardcopy form. The release of the document was a mistake.
Now.

I make no representations as to Obama's birth certificate. But there is no chance that what was released was an undoctored document.

Nobody questions Obama US citizenship(he has US passport), the problem is the place of birth (he presented a fake birth certificate).
In case T. Cruz was not born in the US he is not eligible to run for president. One does not need US parents to be a citizen.
BTW: Recent suspicious "accidental" death of the person in Hawaii who certified Obama fake BC adds spice into the matter.
The fact that just investigating the matter gets you in deep trouble (Ariz. sheriff) is very strange.

This is the elephant in the room that no one in the US really wants to talk about. It is also the reason why so many are so hardcore against any type of gun control. They are convinced that the evil black Manchurian is trying to take away their guns so that they will be defenseless when he carries out his programming to institute communism in the US. We have politicians and organizations promoting this kind of thinking and for those who believe it, it all makes perfect sense to them. Then they try to convince everyone that this line of thinking has nothing at all to do with the President's race.

mnottertail -> RE: Let me see if I have this straight (12/30/2013 6:39:12 AM)

So, when Reagan stumped for the Brady and Assault Weapons Ban, and the outlaw of any new automatic weapons in private ownership after May 19th 1986,  that was not a nutsackerism?  Or his gun control in California?

Nixon urging congress to pass a ban on saturday night specials?

Couple of W quotes:
I did think we ought to extend the assault weapons ban and was told the bill was never going to move. I believe law-abiding citizens ought to be able to own a gun. I believe in background checks. The best way to protect our citizens from guns is to prosecute those who commit crimes with guns.

Law-abiding citizens ought to be allowed to protect their families. We ought to keep guns out of the hands of people who shouldn’t have them. That’s why I’m for instant background checks at gun shows. I’m for trigger locks. I think we ought to raise the age at which juveniles can have a gun. I also believe that the best way to make sure that we keep our society safe is to hold people accountable for breaking the law. If we catch somebody illegally selling a gun, there needs to be a consequence. The federal government can help.

Bush has said he would sign a law requiring trigger locks with handgun sales but wouldn’t push such legislation. Bush has endorsed outlawing the import of certain high-capacity ammunition clips. Bush also would raise the legal age for handgun purchases from 18 to 21.

So, looks to me like nutsackers are dead in the middle of it.

Bullshit. The document has been downloaded and examined by thousands and the layers are random scanning artifacts.

You simply made up that crap.

Now, just as a general FYI, the "birthers" were making noise during the 2008 campaign. That is, they were making these claims prior to Obama getting elected. Most of the media didn't report it as credible, or even potentially credible. Candidate Obama didn't put it to rest, either.

Keeping a veil of secrecy only invites people to guess at what's being hidden.

I don't think jlf started this, though, to question Obama's legitimacy to be President, but to point out an apparent hypocrisy of those who claimed (especially those that still do) Obama didn't meet the requirement, but support Cruz's legitimacy to be President.

MsMJAY -> RE: Let me see if I have this straight (12/30/2013 6:58:18 AM)

So if I understand you correctly, you object to me saying its about race?

But you do not deny that there are politicians and organizations (like the NRA) promoting this type of thinking in the US, right?
Just that it has anything to do with his race? Although when these organizations get together they put up leadership and speakers (Ted Nugent, David Duke, Jim Porter etc.) who make racial slurs against the president, blacks and other minorities and/or refer to the Civil War as "The War of Northern Aggression."

But you have no idea why anyone would believe it has anything to do with race, huh? ok. Gotcha.[8|]

While that is true, like the right has the birthers, the left also has a small group who just can't wrap their heads around the fact that some people might not like him because of what he stands for and not the color of his skin. They will scream "they are racist" just as fast as the birthers will scream "he isn't a citizen" Both groups need to grow the fuck up and get over themselves. But I guess they don't realize how ignorant they sound when they get started.

Further proof comes from the indisputable fact that the entire "fast & furious" pseudo scandal was created by a far right wing lunatic blogger whose premise was the Obama administration was going to use gun running to Mexico as an excuse to outlaw gun sales.

Yes, he did. He released his Hawaiian birth certificate. the racist loons refused to accept that it was real.

MsMJAY -> RE: Let me see if I have this straight (12/30/2013 7:07:35 AM)

And yet, no one accused those Presidents of being communists, forging their birth certificates or conspiring to abolish the 2nd Amendment. Wonder why? [8|]

Reagan's gun control was in California during the time the Black Panthers chose to exercise their 2nd Amendment Right to Open Carry weapons. Ironically the NRA supported gun control legislation at this time.

"At this time, the NRA and conservative elected officials directly supported a ban on assault weapons in order to maintain order and keep firearms out of the hands of activist groups, such as communist organizations and the Black Panther Party."
