Lucylastic -> Alex Jones and the war on Christmas (12/30/2013 5:19:58 AM)

SO, this morning Im bored, waiting for the world to wake up and give me some hell, so I go an find something ...fun....
ya not so much, I should have known, theres nothing like rabid idiots yattering bullshit about the latest "ODS" which we had last year..the damn christmas card.
An woah boy did it bring the crazies out, read a few of the responses... they are always more telling than the topic at hand.
Im curdled already.
Watch out world.... bring it on...
http://www.infowars.com/obama-family-christmas-card-no-mention-of-christ-or-christmas/
The Obama family Christmas card contains no mention of Christ or Christmas in yet another example of how politically correct sensitivities have eclipsed common sense. It’s not like we were expecting Obama to wish Americans a “Merry Christmas,” such a thought crime would not have gone unpunished amongst leftist authoritarians, but you would have at least hoped to see a Christmas tree or some token trace of Christian symbolism.
The inside of the card is virtually colorless and features a pop-up image of an empty White House with two dogs outside. The card is signed by POTUS, FLOTUS, the Obama daughters and includes paw prints representing Sunny and Bo.
“As we gather around this season, may the warmth and joy of the holidays fill your home,” the card reads. It contains nothing whatsoever indicative of a Christian festival, nor even one of the more modern representations of Christmas such as Santa Claus.
The front of the card shows an image of a dog sat next to a fire. Ribbons surround the fireplace and there’s a handful of gifts on a table. It’s hardly a Christmas parade.
Liberals often try to satirize the so-called “war on Christmas” as an invention of the paranoid right-wing, but when the President of the United States puts out a Christmas card that deliberately expunges any mention of Christmas from its design, how do they expect people to react?
Is Obama deliberately trying to anger his political adversaries? Would his supporters and ethnic minorities really have been so offended by a single reference to Christmas by its actual name?

Some of my faves...

quote:

I agree with everyone else!! Gold you robbed from us on 9-11.... You ppl in white house make me sick.. I am glad I never served for a demonic Government!! I got one question for all of you in the white House First off Why are the streets shaped in demonic Symbols??

quote:

YOU ARE THE PROBLEM = REPENT AND GET RIGHT WITH GOD = ALL OF YOU BEFORE ITS TOO LATE AND YOUR OUTSIDE LOOKING IN = ETERNAL LIFE IS ETERNAL = MANY WILL COME TO ME ON THAT DAY AND I WILL SAY UNTO THEM DEPART FROM ME YOU THAT LOVE TO SIN = ADULTERY AND LOVERS OF THEMSELF AND THIEVES AND MURDERERS AND THOSE WHO LOVE TO FORNICATE WILL NOT GO TO HEAVEN = YOU MUST REPENT = YOU MUST REPENT

quote:

I actually don't mind them doing this, I'm a firm believer in the separation of church and state. Plus, I think it's considerate to the diversity of America, which is no longer a strictly Christian nation nor do I think it ever will be again.

quote:

It's time for America to decide. Jesus, Muhammed, or Marx. Pick one.
response:Sort of a paradox, considering the whole point of America is that one is able to pick any.

quote:

Correct me if I am wrong, but didnt Obama claim to be Christian during his campaign? I really can't remember, but I feel like he did. Someone please fill me in.
response: Obaaama is a big liar and a fake ass bitch so what is your point? If you think his lies are bad just wait till Hillary gets her fat ass in the office.

yay alex jones

Tell the truth. Foreigners think we are nuts, don't they? [:'(]

Lucylastic -> RE: Alex Jones and the war on Christmas (12/30/2013 6:07:56 AM)

"American Exceptionalism" at it's finest. [8D]

I almost read that as experimentalism not exceptionism.

When someone becomes 18 years of age, its stated they are an adult with the full rights of being a US Citizen. I'm wondering if we should amendment that to imply not just physical age but also mental and emotional age. There is more than enough examples of individuals that maybe in their 30s-60s physically yet behave like junior high school kids mentally and emotionally on a routine basis. Would rather undermine the whole of the Tea Party almost immediately by this action. And some that are Republican as well. Alex Jones and folks like him would simply have to show they are actual adults and emotionally stabled individuals. I've been to town hall meetings in MA and NH and there is a sizable crowd of individuals that really behave like 12 year olds. This attitude was not allowed back in previous decades of America, why are we allowing it now?

On the point of the Obama family holiday card....

Last I checked, they can send out any kind of card they want. Unless Alex Jones is stating we need to bring in heavy levels of government regulations as to what one can place on a holiday card? He doesn't go to quite that extreme, but its pretty close which is both ironic and amusing. If the President sent out a 'Happy Spaghetti Monster Day' card that is his choice as well. Unlike the 'Alex Jones' types in the country, the President understands that not just fundamentist Christians live in the USA, but a whole range of different faiths and philosophical views. So he sends out a card that is more or less acceptable to many people in the country. An those that take issue with it simply need to grow the fuck up!

MsMJAY -> RE: Alex Jones and the war on Christmas (12/30/2013 9:45:32 AM)

There was a report this year of someone hitting a Salvation Army Santa for saying "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas." Whoever that idiot was obviously missed the whole point of the season.

I love the holidays. All of them. Everything between Thanksgiving and New Years. If it wasn't so darn exhausting I would celebrate Christmas, Winter Solstice, Yule, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and Festivus (for the rest of us.) I think its kind of awesome that so many different cultures find reason to celebrate at the year's end. It should bring us closer together.

What? No love or holiday cheer for the Flying Spaghetti Monster?

It's intentional. We are all happiness machines kept dumb so we don't cause too much trouble and focus on chasing consumerism. If we are eternal children we are always mailable and controlled. Read Huxleys Brave New World add a very liberal dose of Orwells 1984, season with V for Vendetta and there you have it. Democracy...Ha!

The only reason old Rome fell was because they ran out of loaves and circuses.

The documentary linked below appeared on the UKs BBC a few years ago, so it must be true.
It's interesting to see in what low regard the emperors hold us plebs

Yeah, Lucy, we know all about that portion of the population that wakes up and looks for something to be offended about. Thanks for the refreshing honesty. [8|]

Lucylastic -> RE: Alex Jones and the war on Christmas (12/30/2013 6:40:52 PM)

oh rich, it was far too early to have to give you a respectable reason for Anything...

refreshing honesty???is that your way of calling me a liar?
Or are you ignoring the thread just to make a personal attack?
gasp.
perish the thought

Liar? No. Disingenuous and selective in your outrage? Oh HELL yes.

As I said, sensible people are well aware that the world is full of people who wake up and look for something to be offended about. Poking them sticks can be amusing, too, but it's rare, and refreshing, to see it stated as plainly as you did.

And if you start a thread with "Alex Jones" in the title, take it as a compliment to you that I even opened the thread to begin with.

Lucylastic -> RE: Alex Jones and the war on Christmas (12/30/2013 7:32:13 PM)

everything you do matters to me Rich.....
If you saw outrage in my first post you are slipping way beyond the point of irrelevancy,
If I want outrage, Ill focus on abortion bills, , poor people, dead kids shot by accident, rampant ugliness by a lot of disgusting vile republicans, and democrats.
More war , the homeless, the suicide rate of the veterans , the homelessness of vets everywhere.
People who will miss out on affordable care by peoples ugliness.
The dangers of fracking and destruction on the environment, domestic abuse and rape and the war on drugs.
But then I wouldnt see your happy countenance around me.
whats a woman to do.

TheHeretic -> RE: Alex Jones and the war on Christmas (12/30/2013 7:40:50 PM)

Funny. I'd swear we've covered most of those things at one point or another. That's how I figured out the disingenuous and selectively outraged bit. [;)]

Whatever. If I want a, just for the hell of it thread, I can play with conspiracies without needing professional douchebags with a radio show and website to come up with them for me.

Have a happy!

njlauren -> RE: Alex Jones and the war on Christmas (12/30/2013 7:57:33 PM)

Just goes to show you how stupid many of those with their false outrage at "the war on Christmas" show every year. Blatter heads like Bill O'Reilly rant about taking Christ out of Christmas, but when was the last time O'Reilly or any other evangelicals ripped corporate america for being open on Thanksgiving and Christmas days? Where is the outrage that for many, it is about shopping until you drop? If anything has 'perverted' Christmas (hey, if people get off on shopping, be my guest), it is that..

The Christmas tree as sign of Christ? I wonder if that stupid redneck knows the origin of the Christmas tree, that it isn't Christian, but pagan and the 'star' is not the star of Jesus, or anything approaching it. Santa Clause is religious? Really? The origins might have evolved from Saint Nick, but Sinter Claus (Santa Clause) has nothing to do with Jesus...

I these lunkheads actually knew what they were talking about they might make some sense, but they don't, they are like Christians who believe the Christmas pageant story of Jesus is truth, 'how it happened', or that Jesus was born in December.........if they really wanted to put Christ into Christmas, they would forbid sports on the day, any kind of shopping or gifts, and make it into a somber, joyless kind of day.....like the dear old puritans they worshipped made it (the music that our national anthem is sung to is from an old song called "Ode to Anachreon", that I believe was a broadside at the Puritans in control of England under Cromwell and what they did to Christmas...).

Though some of his earlier work seemed to have merit, I never fully trusted Alex Jones... and eventually came to the conclusion that he is a part of the system that keeps the masses divided and distracted.

Alex Jones is another guy getting rich by fostering other people's fears. IMO, anything he says is pretty much irrelevant.

Oh the irony! A pagan festival hijacked by Christianity that has now been hijacked by consumerism. The modern day churches are the shopping malls where the believers flock to worship in their thousands...

The words are interchangeable and whist they both mean choice what they actually are is control. True Orwellian double speak.
