wittynamehere -> sketchy-looking profiles that can unblock themselves and reappear?! (12/31/2013 10:23:27 AM)

(Note: Since I posted this a few minutes ago, the member's link has been removed by the moderators. Sorry, I didn't know you can't say other members names here. Sadly, this post will now have a lot less meaning, and I won't be able to hear from others who have had the same issue with the profile in question. I suspect many people have seen it, blocked it, and seen it again. But now we probably won't be able to know either way. Since I can't name it, I'll describe it. 18, f, USA, young-looking mostly-naked photo, with a username that starts with "anal".)

I first came across this account a few weeks ago while browsing the other side. I was surprised that the username hadn't been taken before, since almost every comprehensible useful name has already been claimed on this site. Anyway, the profile was much the same as the one you see in the link above. Hinting at being underaged, claiming to be an anal virgin, and wanting her "anus destroyed by brutal anal-only gangbangs". As I do with any profile I see that I don't want anything to do with, I blocked the profile, hid the profile, and moved on.

Saw the same profile a few days ago. That should be impossible since once blocked or hidden, you should never see it again. It was the same text, but a different picture. Blocked, hid.

But it happened again yesterday and I gave it the same result. And there it is again today, right at the top of all my searches and browses, "online now!". Almost identical text, new pic, but identical name. All my other blocks are intact (there are thousands of them at this point) and working properly.

How is this "person" (or company, or agency) able to get around other members' block settings? At the very least, that's a privacy and security breach and could lead to major issues for members and for the site. At worst, it points toward cooperation with sting operations conducted by various law enforcement agencies, attempting to legally entrap members. While that's certainly within their legal right to do, if that's the case, I really think members need to be aware of it. Not to protect anyone who is legitimately trying to harm anyone else here - absolutely not! I do however have an issue with the overuse of fraud and entrapment, and the smelly stained blanket of mistrust it throws over the community, the majority of which is made of good people. Not a healthy environment for meeting others and beginning relationships, which is the site's stated purpose and goal.

Hopefully that's not the case and it's just some simple hack or glitch that needs correcting.
I hope not to see this blocked profile unblock itself and reappear a 4th time.
Thanks, and Happy New Calendar!!
WNH

This would be a question for Site Support.

Thank you Admin. Should I repost it there, or can it be moved with the magical powers? Much appreciated.

I've a lot of this happening, too. There is 1 profile in particular that I've had a conversation with. She (or he, they, whatever) claim the profile is being deleted by the site for no reason. I find difficult, but not impossible, to believe. The profile appears on Monday, is gone on Tuesday, several new profiles show up, then on Thursday that profile is back.

My guess is that the person who operated the profile is deleting it then re-creating it but I have no idea why. Any given profile does not stay on the 1st page for very long. Whatever.

At least someone seems to be on top of the Numbers Profiles - the ones that have a name then a 3, 4, or 5 digit number after them. They tend to appear in bunches of 10 or 12 at a time, and many of them use the same cut/paste copy in the description.

Or it's been wiped by Site Support and s/he goes back in and fills it back in. Or s/he hides it and unhides it to create drama.

ThatDaveGuy69 -> RE: sketchy-looking profiles that can unblock themselves and reappear?! (12/31/2013 11:14:05 AM)

The wiping is questionable as there is nothing objectionable in the profile - in fact, there is absolutely nothing in the profile at all.
As for the hiding/un-hiding, that should not cause it to leap to the top of the list and it always has a current Creation Date, ie today. That doesn't happen when a profile is hidden.
Just another mystery of CM...
(Cue Twilight Zone music)

That particular profile is back.

Thanks for your input, Daveguy! I wonder, can someone delete their profile and then immediate re-create it using the same username, thus unblocking themselves from everybody who had blocked them? That might help explain this, but then again, it would be a new problem in itself. That shouldn't be possible because it renders the block function all but useless. Hmmm.

wittynamehere -> RE: sketchy-looking profiles that can unblock themselves and reappear?! (12/31/2013 12:52:08 PM)

Well, half an hour later, there it is again. Permanently on the very top of every search, "online now!", and with the username I just blocked and hid, but once again, a new photo.

I'm guilty of reporting a profile... She looked way too young to be here. Not quite old enough to not want pig tails, and definitely not old enough for some old perv to put them back in.

Jus sayin

Once a profile is deleted, there is nothing to stop someone from making another profile with the exact same name. I'm pretty sure I know what one you all are talking about, and I think it's just the troll (or whatever) making a new profile under the same name as the old one as soon as the old one is deleted. The profiles are always "new."

ThatDaveGuy69 -> RE: sketchy-looking profiles that can unblock themselves and reappear?! (12/31/2013 2:26:37 PM)

Actually, this should be quite easy.
Based on what I know about database structure, the User_ID would not be the key field. Instead, an incrementing number is generated by the system every time a new profile is created. So SpankMe101 might be assigned ID number 100101 and the very next profile, say SpankYou101 would be 100102 and so on. Thus, you could delete SpankMe101's profile and then re-create it a few minutes later. It would then be assigned a new number, say 100121, depending on how many new profiles had been created in the interim.
The solution to this, if one were desired by the Powers That Be, would be a Deleted_User_ID table where the user ID's of deleted profiles would be stored for some period of time. When a new profile is created the User ID must not be in the main Users table but also not exist in the Deleted User table. An expiration date could be added so that the ID can be re-used at some point in the future, say, 30, 60, or 90 days later.

Of course we all know that the DBA's are over-worked, slave laborers with much larger issues to deal with than something like this that might improve the way people feel about the integrity (!) of the site.

Everyone should indeed tell Support when they suspect the person is underage.

ExiledTyrant -> RE: sketchy-looking profiles that can unblock themselves and reappear?! (12/31/2013 2:34:51 PM)

The other suspicious stuff is when I see a profile of woman that was clearly written by an idiot like me. I think we need a came support button where a mod can cam with a questionable profile and stamp it "idiot made" or "bless her heart, she doesn't know better".

No, but I've now contacted "VideoAdminDelta" about it on the other side, who told me that once a profile has been deleted (for any reason) a new one with the same name can be immediately re-created (by the same person, or someone else). I'm guessing that's what's going on here, but I don't know for sure.

The next time you see the profile seemingly deleted, consider creating a new profile with the exact name ASAP. If you're successful, then you'll know for sure. If you're not successful, then at least you'll know that the person isn't deleting the profile.
