TheHeretic -> First newborn of the year (1/2/2014 10:32:30 AM)

So I'm looking through the local news from yesterday, and there is the traditional "first baby of the year" story. Baby born out of wedlock. It's the new normal.

I'm curious what others find in their local story.

Brief thaw Friday, more cold to follow.

Good news for those typically sentenced to poverty and a shit education from the moment they crown.

From The Philadelphia Inquirer

Can Chip Kelly and Nick Foles be the next Sean Payton and Drew Brees?

One question, though. Given that we live a non-traditional lifestyle and we ask for tolerance of it, what's the necessity for criticizing someone else by saying, "Baby born out of wedlock. It's the new normal."?

mnottertail -> RE: First newborn of the year (1/2/2014 11:50:36 AM)

The gravamen here for me is how is that a NEW normal?

OK, we need to ramp up abstinence education, hah?

So, wedlock reminds me of a prison sentence, they need to work on that word if they want it to be appealing.

It can be said that we choose what we do, or that we find ways to accomodate what we are wired to like/need, depending on perspective.

Single parenting is something inflicted non-consensually, and with typically lousy consequences for the victim of it.

Loads of libbies want to talk income inequality, but I find it very funny how they run like hell from even seeing a real cause of it.

mnottertail -> RE: First newborn of the year (1/2/2014 1:15:19 PM)

Nutsackers say stupid shit, and give outlandish causes for it, none of which coincide with reality. Course, Ronald Reagan signed the first no-fault divorce legislation into law.  And the rest of the nutsackers tumbled.

The weather here in the UK has been oddly mild in temperature but very stormy. I blame it on welfare claimants, single-parent mothers and immigrants from Eastern Europe.

It has been said that marriage is a great institution............so was Alcatraz and who the hell wants to live in an institution ?

TheHeretic -> RE: First newborn of the year (1/2/2014 6:22:07 PM)

Funny you should mention that. Children born outside of marriage are more likely to wind up in prison.

First baby born in the Toledo area was born about 2 hours after midnight. No mention of the wedded status of the two parents. They have different last names, but that's not conclusive. I'm more interested that both parents are present and positively active in their boy's life.

The first baby born to the other major hospital system in the Toledo area was born around 9:30 am, with no mention of the parent(s); just that it was a boy born around 9:30am and which hospital.

Local news was dominated by Winter Storm Hercules (which is set to blast through NE US). We had level 2 storm emergencies here and temperatures in the teens. I didn't pay any attention to exactly how much we got, but it was a solid snow storm, and the winds were, and continue to be, strong. There is a lot of blowing, and it's still snowing. The lows tonight are going to be somewhere around 0 to -5°F. This is the 2nd major snow storm, and definitely the coldest temperatures, of the season. I travel the "expressways" to work, and while there were a few cars no longer on the roads, I found them to be just fine. As usual, the biggest headache on the roads are the people who forgot how to drive in snow, and have decided to travel 20-30 mph under the speed limit when conditions simply aren't that bad. I'm noticing fewer speed demons as I get older, and more "lack of speed" demons. It seems that if a snow flake is forecast, everyone drops their speed down 10-15 mph, even if the forecast is for the next day.

It actually hit 0 today...thats fahrenheit... not Celsius and its colder with the windchill, snow and ice everywhere.
I did see a set of twins born one in 2013, one in 2014.....thas cool

TheHeretic -> RE: First newborn of the year (1/2/2014 6:43:04 PM)

Hey, Lucy. Nice of you to happily join the efforts to make the whole subject vanish. Care to offer an opinion about why libbies are so terrified of admitting illegitimacy is becoming the new normal?

Or do libbies just love poverty stricken, badly educated, emotionally, physically, and sexually abused children so much, they think it's great that we are bringing more into the world?

TheHeretic -> RE: First newborn of the year (1/2/2014 6:51:52 PM)

FR

Not that it will matter to the deliberately obtuse but let's state this clearly.

In your local media reports, was the first baby of the year born to parents who are married?

mnottertail -> RE: First newborn of the year (1/3/2014 6:26:58 AM)

Libbies have admitted that nutsacker whines of 'illigitimacy' is normal.  (what is exactly illigitimate about it, one is forced to ask)  once the nutsacker st. wrinklemeat proved that marraiges were worthless with this no fault bill that he signed, how is it that nutsackers are now surprised and want to know how the libbies did this?

The nutsackers brought this about. Just like they have most of the plagues.

TieMeInKnottss -> RE: First newborn of the year (1/3/2014 7:37:33 AM)

See...as a finance person (and a member of a family with more CPAs than anything else) I do NOT understand why anyone wants to have the first baby of the New Year... You are the smartest couple if you have the LAST baby of the year.

True story-my sister and BIL are both CPAs. After being married for 10 yrs, she finally got pregnant...the due date was Jan 3. The first thing the Ob said to them after "you're pregnant" was "for two accountants you did a really LOUSY job timing this". The running joke throughout the pregnancy was whether or not my nephew would be smart enough to "vacate" by year end...He was [:D]...showed up right before Christmas !!

joether -> RE: First newborn of the year (1/3/2014 2:59:13 PM)

One story I heard of a mother giving birth to twins. However, one was born in one year and the other in the next. separated apparently by just a few minutes. Will make for some interesting birthday parties....

Actually that's great! They can be twins and still each have their own birthday!! Tax season for the parental units will be awkward!!
