... and I'm sure there will be some suggestions.

But I had this thought at the gym on Thursday and it's been bugging me ever since. Which locker room would a transgender person use?

I know this sounds like some kind of smart-ass question. It's really not meant that way. Thanks to any who answer.

Good question.

My thought is that they should use that third bathroom. The one with disabled access.

I am not in any way suggesting that transgendered people are disabled. What I am saying is that it would make others more comfortable. It would be polite and wouldn't force others to take on your concerns.

I think they would have to check with the gym. however, due to equality and diversity laws the gym may have no choice but to allow said person to use whichever changing room the wish. I should think though that this would be subject to proof that this person is indeed transgener. most have to live as their chosen sex for at least two years before major will be granted here in the UK I think (someone will correct me if i'm wrong), so I should think this includes using changing rooms.

on the flip side though you do have other users of the gym. they may not be so happy to share the changing room. personally I wouldn't be bothered.

In the state of California, starting January 1st, 2014: A transgendered person is allowed to use the bathroom allocated to whichever gender they identify with. I'm not sure if that pertains to changing rooms as well.

That's a huge issue, and the fact that you have crossdressers who have had no hormones or surgery as well as fully passable post-ops all considered equivalent doesn't help.

Suffice it to say that I'd like to see anyone on hrt or with operations treated as the gender they present, but I haven't formulated any thoughts about CDs.

While attending water classes at my local parks and rec pool, we had a transgendered (MTF) person who would use the women's changing room. She would leave the pool (generally before the class would end and the locker room was primarily empty) and immediately head for one of the curtained off shower stalls. Showered, changed, and immediately would leave the locker room as soon as she was done. Some of the other ladies were uncomfortable with it, but many of us were not bothered with the situation. She tried everything she could to make it as comfortable for others as possible.

For the sake of others a transgendered person should use the dressing room that matches their physical attributes. After all changing clothes is just that...not sex...same with restrooms. Imagine a straight woman turning around in a dressing room to see a cock pointing at them.

Gym locker rooms are not like the shower room in the first jail scene in "Orange is the New Black."

I have belonged to many gyms in many states and they all had private changing areas. I don't think I've ever seen a breast. I probably could have, but if I'm changing in the common area, I face my locker and don't look around.

I'd have no problem with a trans-gendered person in the locker room. However, I would ban noisy children.

There was a school in the newspaper last year or the year before where a transgendered child was using one bathroom over the one and so they made that child go in the nurse's restroom away from the other children so that the children would not be exposed to the transgendered child and have tons of questions for parents.

The parents of the transgendered sued the school. They won and the school now has to allow that child to use the restroom that the child has chosen as their gender and not the one they were born as.
